We had gone there for the first time around three years ago, and we loved it. Nice staff, a place bustling with customers, okay prices, and huge, delicious servings.
Then, after some time I wasn't in the city, I took my boyfriend there around a month ago. It was really poor, and I am not sure what happened to this restaurant in those three years that have passed. First, there was nobody there apart from one other couple and us, and it was 1pm, the perfect and usual dinner time in Marburg. This place should have been packed with people as students and workers are on their lunch break. This should have been my first clue. Then we saw they upped the prices, and first I thought that was just because they could as there is no other American diner place in Marburg, and Chevy's had quite a reputation for its nice atmosphere and good food.
What we got for lunch was in no way adequate to the amount of money we paid. The burgers shrinked to the size of an average McSomething at the restaurant with the golden M up front, the side salad was no more than three salad leaves and a tomato slice. The only thing big was the portion of fries my boyfriend got, so in the end it was a lunch of fries with a teensy burger on the side.
I'm still awarding two points because the general atmosphere of "American dining" has remained (although the atmosphere suffers from too few customers, of course) and the restaurant is not completely lost yet (I hope;) so if they would maybe reduce the prices again and served burgers of the size they served three years ago, then there is hope. I for sure won\t go there again in the near future since there are cheaper lunch and dinner options in Marburg where I get much better value for money. Deeply disappointed!
