This building is a must-have when in Hannover. Stunning to look at. Inside they have a brilliant display showing Hannover over the years - the bombing was terrible and seeing it laid out like they have it really put it all into perspective. 40 minutes was too long to just stand in line for the look out though, so we missed that. They would let you write your name in a queue and go explore and be back for your turn.

What a lovely surprise! We enjoyed the Rathaus much more than we expected. The architecture of the building was beautiful. The models of the city pre and post WW2 fascinating and chilling and the trip up the sloping elevator to the top great fun! The views from the top really good too.

We have dinner in the restaurant in the building. We like it and we take many pictures with the historical view.

This and the gardens, that is. Very nice building, both inside and out, located in a picture perfect spot by a pond and a lake. I can imagine that it would be easy to spend the whole sunny Sunday sitting on one of the benches nearby and reading a book. Lovely building, which is just over 100 years old, even if it may appear to be older than that. One of those buildings where the architects and builders were taking pride in their work, unlike the modern-day crap. Very nice interior with plenty of photo shooting opportunities (as well as plenty of opportunities to be quiet and just take it all in). Do not miss going to the top - just a few stairs and then a memorable elevator ride away. Great views from up there and thankfully not as crowded as similar places in more popular destinations. This is definitely a place to visit.

One of the highlights of Hannover is the Rathaus or new city hall in English. This magnificent building has a beautiful backdrop of water and gardens worth visiting it also has a sweeping forecourt leading up to the entrance steps. Once in side you can ride the elevator for €3 to the top of the town hall and climb a few stairs to a panoramic viewing area and take in amazing views of all of Hannover and as far as the eye or your camera lens can see. Not to be missed for lovers of architecture and photography lovers alike. Simply breathtaking.
