Very convenient location, close to the Hauptbahnhof and the subway station Kampstraße, close to the shopping area and the Weihnachtsmärkte.
Clean, minimum equipment but sufficient for two nights, a good deal for the price.

Right in the centre of Dortmund but less than a five minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof. Good for those breaking a long rail journey, as I was. A warm welcome, but it's not very obvious where the entrance to the hotel is located (three floors up in a lift).
Good location but otherwise tired old hotel, long overdue complete refurbishment. Faded carpets and pictures in the halls.
No fridge in standard rooms "to save the planet," but apparently, superior room occupants are not so concerned.
No safe in rooms.
Bathroom with green and gold coloured tiles from the 70's/80's had cracked floor tiles with blackened grout from years of water on the floor.
Glasses on request, but they wouldn't deliver to room.
Body cream on request was so old that it had liquefied.
Rooms are only cleaned on request, and they don't tell you that on the reservation or at check-in. Then chambermaid knocked and opened door without waiting, despite "DO NOT DISTURB" sign.
Very poor breakfast with basic rolls and cheese/ham; allegedly broken toaster miraculously reappeared after two days of complaints but still had to ask for bread. You cannot economically repair an old toaster so it was obvious that the reason why it was withdrawn was to avoid having to put out bread. Scrambled eggs on request but no sausage (is this Germany??), bacon or beans. It's definitely not worth €14. Save money and go to one of the many coffee shops nearby.
The so called "cosy bar" is actually at reception and I never saw anyone there.
In 4 nights I only saw 2 other guests at breakfast time, which was not a big surprise.
This is a poor excuse for an Accor/ Mercure Hotel.
There has to be better value in Dortmund.
Right in the centre, the hotel is the top few floors of an office block. Access by lift from the street, though the lock at the door to the entrance had been ripped off which made it feel slightly tacky. Room was fine, like some of the other smaller Mercure's in Germany it felt slightly austere (walls echoey) and not very homely. There is a small bar, but no evening meals (other than things from the freezer). Everything was clean and the breakfast was fine. Good point to note: I noted that some DB staff stay there on lodging turns, so sign that its reasonably consistent quality. The other Mercure in Dortmund centre has better facilities... but higher rates.

Great location right opposite Dortmund’s ground. Picked up tickets from here and had a few drinks. Busy with good atmosphere. Good service and modern decor. Felt better than a 3 star hotel. Bar area was long with different seating choices. Only taking cash at the Bar, might be as a game on
