Climb up to the dome if you can. Its worth the admission fee. The view from the top is stunning. Nice view of the elbe river and dresden old town. Be prepared to spend at least 45min to an hour here, or even longer if you want to enjoy the view.

We were driving from Berlin to Prague and while you really don't a stop (it's less than 4 hours straight through), it's worthwhile to stop in Dresden. It's very walkable and everything is close, including the Castle and the Fürstenzug (Procession of Princes). Both are of significant importance. But the Frauenkirche is really what draws you in. It's hard to believe what is around you once you see what Dresden looked like at the end of World War II. Take some time, and whether you visit the basement or climb the dome, just take in the beauty of it all. Breathtaking.

Be sure to give yourself plenty of time here - this isn't a 20-minute stop. Plan on an hour. There are exhibits in the basement about the church's history, especially over the past 70 years. The dome climb is one of the easiest - an elevator is required for part of the way, a large wide ramp going up inside the dome part of the way, and separate up & down stairs for the rest. Great view from the top. Highly recommend a visit here.

We love this church, if you go onto the riverside you can see the evidence of the bombing in WW2. It is amazing that they rebuilt using what remained and then recreating the old city.

my favourite place to see the Frauenkirche at night is from lne of the central bridges. The whole Altstadt is lit up at night making it my favourite view in whole Germany.
