An incredible lunch experience. The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. My wife and I were warmly greeted by presumably the owner (very welcoming man), and taken to the nicely-appointed dining room in the rear of the restaurant. He realized my Spanish was quite limited, so he provided us English menus, and then patiently explained each of his recommended dishes, and he suggested we share these. We chose 3 of his suggested dishes. The first course was berenjenes (fried zucchini) -- truly wonderful, particularly with the honey syrup. The 2nd dish was [something?.. Arana] (fried white fish), also great. The third dish was Rabos de Toro (ox-tail) -- this too was tremendous, being so flavorful, with much meat and tender. The bottle of Rioja was excellent as well. The meal concluded with complimentary small sweet pastry and liquors. The final bill for these items, and the bread and 2-bottles of Perrier came to 54 euros. Service throughout was extremely attentive. We highly recommend Taberna San Cristobal.

We are staying in Tryp Cordoba and thanks to trip advisor comments we decided to go to this place which is not far from the hotel. Warn you its not in the main street but worth going to this place if you would like to have a typical Spanish food. No regrets and I'd recommend it. It's not one of these typical tourist joints. As you enter you find most of the clients are locals which gives the first good impression about the place.

The place has very Andalusian look and the service was friendly, quick and good. We are about altogether 11 people including kids.

We had typical Spanish dishes such as "Salmorejo, Spanish omlets, prawns, calamares, egg plant, salad etc...

We left the place very satisfied.

Recommend by my Spanish friends - Taberna san cristobal is a must visit when in Córdoba. We skipped breakfast to ear here for lunch.
Had the feel of an "old manny pub" back home with sport on the TV and locals drinking and reading newspapers. We sat in the bar but the restaurant in the back had may tables.
Staff were so accommodating despite my lack of Spanish. Very proud of their heritage which could be seen in the decor.

To start we ordered a glass of Moriles de la casa - delicious local white wine which tasted like Sherry but with the crispness of a dry white which was very refreshing and needed coming inside from 37 degrees heat!

To share we picked:
Berenjenas (fried aubergines) with honey - we had these at almost every Tapas bar we ate at but these were the best and you got to apply your own honey!
Araña (which translates as "Spider" but is actually white fish) This was the stand out plate for me - I would go as far to say the best fried fish I've ever ate!
Flamenquín (pork and ham rolled up together, covered in breadcrumbs and fried) unbelievably tasty!
Last but not least: Rabos de Toro (Ox Tail) it was rich, meaty, fell off the bone - we took great pleasure letting our chips soak up all the juice before eating them.
When we asked for our bill we got a wee glass of sweet wine and a mini pastry - very yummy to finish things off. I love it when you get a complimentary piece at the end!

As you can see my girlfriend and I had ordered far too much for 2 people but we managed to eat most of what was served - every mouthful was a taste explosion.

It was also one of our more cheaper meals we had on this holiday - €46 for 6 wines, 2 bottles of aqua con gas and enough food for 4 people is very responsible based on the quality we got. It pays to head off the beaten track and eat like a local.

Went here on our first evening in Cordoba. So glad we did. The waiters were amazingly friendly, recommending various very traditional dishes. The pisto ( slightly sweet ratatouille) was wonderful and the oxtail was delicious- so tender and tasty. Great place- full of locals. Would recommend this to anyone who wants the real tapas experience.
