We stayed at this hotel from March 25 to March 28, during Semana Santa. The location was perfect, near to the processions yet far enough away to avoid a lot of the commotion, with a subway stop right outside the door. The room was comfortable, clean and larger than other Spanish hotels we stayed in. The breakfast was reasonable, not the best we had but with a decent variety of choices. Not fancy but appropriate. What brought this up to the top echelon for us was the incredible service of Javier who took care of all our needs. Arriving early (which always seems to happy after a flight, we could not check-in but he took care of our personal items and gave us excellent suggests and options to consider until check-in time. When we victims of a small crime during our sightseeing he was compassionate, concerned and helpful giving us suggestions on what to do. In some hotels we might have been left to drift, but he took charge to ensure that we explored all our options. The total package of hotel, acommodations and customer service were at a high level for this hotel.

Room tip: Ask for a room, high up, overlooking the front of the hotel for views, or back of hotel for quiet.

The hotel is well located, quite close to the train station, department stores and not so far from the city centre.
However, it is a little shabby, old looking and has a worn feel to it. The water from the shower flooded the bathroom floor, the air conditioning didn't work (I assume it wan't connected at the main switch downstairs yet, even though the sun was coming directly through my window in the afternoon). I had to open a window with all the traffic noise from outside.
The breakfast room opened 10 minutes late (07:40 and not 07:30) and they continued to scurry around to bring items out, so it wasn't complete until around 07:50. I was surpised to see a member of staff "blocking" the coffee machine, making a string of coffees for herself and colleagues.
The breakfast selection is very mediocre for the room price.
Wifi is free, but poor: you'll be lucky to get 1Mb download speed.
All in all I think the value for money is very poor and I certainly will not come back to this hotel.

First the positives: a 20 minute stroll from the Cathedral, no more than a four minute walk to a station with direct access to the airport, friendly staff, helpful staff, clean
Now the negatives: hotel is basic, it is tired and needs a refresh, simple things like A/C not working, a sliding wardrobe door not sliding or a piece of plaster falling off the wall should be picked up and rectified through good housekeeping - it isn't, beds are hard and uncomfortable, depending what room you get prepare to look out onto a brick wall (407), breakfast room really struggles to cope with the breakfast rush and the actual choice of breakfast was basic. Given the money the room cost there are better hotels to choose from - sorry Eurostars but I won't be back

We were passing through after a late flight and wanted to visit our favourite museum, the CAC Contemporary Art Center, which is right next door.
The hotel room was spacious and very clean, the bedding was warm and comfortable, breakfast was very extensive and sumptuous.
This night was very good value for money!
After a great night's sleep, we just walked over to the CAC, great start of the day.
If you're looking for a comfortable night in a central location I heartily recommend this hotel. It's also only a 5 minute walk to the food market and the shopping streets.

Room tip: room was with river view, nice and quiet
