Our first tapA. One glass of wine brought us paella. Killer dish is purple tomatoes served cut in quarters with sea salt and olive oil. Bustling. Order at counter which I like. You are served at long shared tables which Zi like.

The first time we visited it was extremely busy and we had to wait for a sit down space. It was so worth it. Chaotic because it was the Cruz de Mayo festival but our waiter still managed to juggle everybody's orders and there were plenty of non Spanish speaking tourists there. We went back again at a quieter time. The seafood is so fresh.

We read reviews about this restaurant, so we cruised by before we were ready to eat. At 11:30 there were about half a dozen Japanese and Chinese tourists, and a bunch of empty tables. By 1:00 when we came back they were full and crowded. The waiter told us to stand against the wall and out of the way. Rows of tables, people standing crowed around the bars at the side and back. Noisy. Do we (you) really want to eat here? It was recommended by the owner of our B&B and the menu outside looked good. So, we waited, maybe five or ten minutes. The waiter cleared a spot, and we joined a dozen strangers who were chatting and eating. All around us people had plates of tomatoes. Marinated Tomatoes, six euros. Everyone was drinking small glasses of beer (canas). We ordered beers. I saw mushrooms (with garlic). I ordered a plate of mushrooms. Many seafood options. We ordered a half portion of mixed seafood, about nine euros. Bread. Two rolls. Fried? One euro. Fresh beer. Great tomatoes, a brown, heirloom tomato with good olive oil and a touch of vinegar. We get a small fried eggplant and anchovies tapa to go with our beers. (The tapas in Granada, by tradition are always free. After the Alhambra, my second favorite thing about Granada). Ordinary mushrooms, sauted, not oily, and delicately garlicky. Good job chef. But everyone is here for the seafood. The guys in ties at the end of the table are on their fourth plate. The people next to us are eating tiny squid. They rip through their first plate and order another. Our plate of mixed seafoods arrives. It is drop dead perfect. Fresh. Lightly fried. Nice mixture of shrimp, calamari, two types of fish in small bites, anchovies, other. This is a half portion, and it is huge. I order a glass of wine. The tomatoes are a perfect foil to the fish. Chilled white, probably a verdejo. Brilliant. Noisy, but we can hear each other, and the good feelings spread to us. Fiesta! Wonderful Spanish good time. I only give Bar Los Diamantes four out of five, because it is continuously crowed, the service is rushed (but good, friendly), and it is noisy. You could only improve on the fried seafood if it came out in small smaller portions, like in the top tempura restaurants in Tokyo. It tested the limits of my high school Spanish. Overall, it takes great skill to cook like this, and restaurant seems to be a public service. If you love seafood and a good time, this is your place in Cordoba.

Stop in for a drink or two, but not comfy enough to stay longer. The tapas is generous and gets progressively bigger on your next round. Be prepared for lots of fried foods! Very friendly.
