Very good hotel and location. Staff really friendly and helpful. Restaurant over the pool overlooks the sea and bay which is good. Generally good value. Taxi drive to and from airport was easy and takes about 20mins although the nearby bus runs to the airport. Would return.

Bar was expensive. 2 gin (Bombay sapphire) and Tonics cost
28euros! Bar terrace is excellent overlooking sea and liner terminal/marina and great views of city and cathedral
All other aspects were great with really friendly staff

Would highly recommend a visit to this hotel , great location and overall top hotel. Breakfast was average n that would only be the let down for me on this trip. The hotel was very clean. The staff were outstanding.

Before booking this hotel i had read a review on here that said that this Hotel wasn't a 4* Hotel. Now i totally see where they where coming from with this statement.

Staff:
The staff are really friendly and helpful, and we had a lot of questions and every day were asking them for different things. They were very patient with us.
The only complaint would be that at one point the two receptionist were attending to someone checking in and not once acknowledged us standing there, I understand that one of the receptionist spoke the same language as the guests while the other didn't but it would of been nice to just be acknowledged.

Room:
We got a room on the second floor (202), facing the front of the hotel (not a sea view). Our room was quite small, as it is a room for three people, there wasn't much space to move about. We were told that all rooms for three people on the first and second floor most of them facing the front of the hotel with only three having a sea view.
Most interesting this of all is the bathroom door! it's a frosted glass door, you can't see inside but you also can't lock it. So there is no privacy as anyone in the room can hear what is going on the bathroom and vise versa.
I found my bed was drooping a bit on one side and my friend said the same, this could be due to the beds being placed side by side and people favouring sleeping on the opposite end (as not to touch the person sleeping next to them). The pillows definitely helped, as i had a good night sleep, due to the body pillows (which i now need to buy). The third bed is a sofa bed and as i didn't sleep in it can't say for certain but at least in sitting it didn't feel as comfortable as the beds.

Housekeeping:
Every time we got back to our room the room was always nice and tidy. The only thing is that on the third day we started to notice dust accumulating under the bed. Apart from that the room was clean and tidy.

Facilities:
Didn't spend too much time exploring the hotel, but the views are amazing. The terrace is on the same level as the reception and its a beautiful place day or night, have a late lunch of tapas while enjoying the beautiful ocean views. At night enjoy the lights offered by the ships on the port while enjoying a drink.
Love the pool went late afternoon around 5pm and as the sun at this time will have left the pool completely there was never anyone around, and I could swim to my hearts content. The hotel provides pool towels you will have to leave a €5 deposit which you will get back on returning the towel.
One of my favourite things was the lift that you could take from the hotel to the street level. It is really convenient and pretty cool, not the easiest to find if you try looking for it on the street level as there isn't any signs for telling you where to go. This lift is really useful as you can catch two busses (3 & 20) that will take you straight to the city centre from there.

Food:
After our tour to the Darch caves which you can organised through the hotel, we were dropped back at the hotel and decided to just eat there that day. We had lunch on the terrace, and had four tapas to share between the three of us. Nachos, garlic prawns, cheese sticks with cranberry sauce and spicy potatoes (Can't remember the exact names of the dishes). We really enjoyed the food the portions where just right for the three of us.

Conclusion:
I wasn't to sure what to rate as my overall rating would be 3.5 but due the fact that i really did enjoy my stay and the positive parts did over shadow the negative i have it a 4.
I think what really brings this place down is that for a 4* Hotel you would expect a lot more than what you get here. It's a really nice hotel good location and friendly staff, don't get me wrong on that. What in my opinion brings it down is that it is a bit old fashioned and OMG! the lifts to get to your room are so small you feel claustrophobic even by yourself.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the top floors with a sea view.
