This is the oldest restaurant on the island of la Gomera (1947). the owners still cook your meal and their daughter waits on you. Not the classiest looking place but don't be fooled, the food is great, very local and fresh.

We had only 20min to have some food and the waitress was very efficient with helping us to choose best options. We had fish soup and watercress soup which arrived in less than 2 min and paella and wrinkled potatoes. Food was tasty , truly homemade . We paid €20 including a bottle of water. Cheap, efficient , tasty and pleasant.

Not a fine-dining place and does not advertise as such. Rustic. The lentil soup had both the appearance and taste of honest and no-nonsense home-cooked food.
The fish - for the Canary islands - was average - a bit bland.
However, the pleasant service, welcoming attitude and the soup made me rate the place very good rather than average.

Typically of La Gomera this place is run by a mother and daughter duo. Julie ( the daughter) is the hard working lady running around taking the orders and serving. We stopped here for a drink on our first night in San Sebastian and then returned later in the evening to eat and we were recognised by Julie.
The food is no nonsense local cuisine and I'm sure you can find far pricier better meals elsewhere. We wanted authentic, local and friendly and that's exactly what we got.
The local house (white) wine is served in reused wine bottles and is perfectly drinkable ( unlike some the local stuff we drank elsewhere on the island ! )
We spent the week hiking around La Gomera but returned to this restaurant on our final night and Julie remembered us. She also remembered that we drank the local white wine and brought it to us without fuss like we were locals !
This bar is on one of the main pedestrian streets in San Sebastian and I'm sure the staff have to deal with a lot of different people, of different nationalities with different manners.
As other reviewers have mentioned - a few words of Spanish go along way and even the worst attempts are much appreciated by the locals. Its on this final night I enquired after her name as Julie had been nothing but charming and friendly.

Watercress soup (local speciality) one of the best. Really nice and huge prawns/langostinos. Friendly staff.
