To find El Ramal is a little tricky, but not if you live 100 meters up the road :)
I will recommend it even as a destination for a trip from any of the neighbor towns.
The place looks a little too simple (or even shabby) to some eyes, but don't be discouraged by looks! The service is great, the food is excellent. We were there late December, and we can only imagine how great it will be in warmer weather when they remove the plastic screens and you can enjoy the view over Puerto de la Cruz.

To find El Ramal is a little bit tricky: it is just between highway and road what lead to historical centre of Orotavia. You have to turn around after roundabout (with flowers and statue). There is a sign of restaurtant and parking lot. Restaurant is a little bit downhill.
Do not expect fancy place. It is more like plastic shed, not house. But it is clean and service is very good. El Ramal is very popular among locals. We happened to be there during lunchtime on Sunday. We were lucky to get the table, because some minutes later there were families waiting for tables.
El Ramal does have very simple, rustic menu: grilled meat (different kind), cheese, peppers, and potatoes. You need to know a little bit Spanish (we had translator in mobile). We ordered ribs (because we didn’t understand the meaning of on portion we got one kilogram of meat…), grilled cheese, grilled peppers with sea salt, French fries, some special potatoes, local wine. Food was just from the grill, very tasty. My favourite was grilled peppers (small portion 2,5 eur). Our bill was 26 eur, but definitely we ordered too much food – half of meat was left. I suggest that half portion of meat is enough for two.

Eating in a Guachinche was definitely a different and great experience.
It was really hard to find the address, and we were lucky that we could find it...
It was a small restaurant, seems family owned.. They were really friendly..
I don't know spanish at all, so I had the problem choosing from the menu, and there were no one that could speak english.. but they welcomed me to their kitchen and I selected the one that looks the best...They were really king and It was full of local families...

We had grilled pork, with wine and Fabada..all were great ...and we finished by a delicious cheese cake kindly offered by the owner.. :)

We definitely enjoyed our day and our meal :)
