Owner description: Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture has been around the world: a unique fairy tale-like palace that brings together architectural tastes of different monarchs. It tells -to all those who come to know it- ancient palatial stories. Austere, as they were the Castilian kings, raised on the rock at the confluence of the valleys of the rivers Eresma and Clamores, the Alcazar seems to watch over the city. Its beautiful Tower keep, often compared to the bow of a boat sailing between the two rivers, is of a stunning beauty. Tourists are amazed to realize that the fortress is a living part of this Castilian city, chosen as a place of residence for many of the monarchs of the Trastamara dynasty.

An impressive building that you remember seeing in movies or games. Viewed in person, stepping on the ancient stones and saw it surrounded by deep protective ditch gave you an unreal sense of history.

We have visited a lot of castles throughout Europe and this was one of the best. The audio guide was great and the self guided tour was easy to follow. The rooms on the tour were beautiful—the ornate ceilings were wonderful.

This was supposed to be one of the inspirations for the castle at Disneyland and it really looks like a fairy-tale castle. Took the 2-hour bus from Madrid to Segovia for a day trip. My hotel was near Madrid Atocha station so took the train to Moncloa train and bus station for the bus to Segovia. Top of my list was the Alcazar although I also wanted to see the Segovia Cathedral (another truly worth seeing spot) and the Aqueduct. Walking thru the old town from the bus station to the Alcazar was also fantastic. The interior of the castle was well worth the price of the entry ticket.Great decorations and loved the knights armour and the view from the tower. From the Alcazar, you can wander downhill (slight left downhill after exiting the gates to the Alcazar grounds) to a tiny village across a stream to get a full length photo of the Alcazar from the side.

A castle is almost always fascinating, wherever it is. This one is no exception. From the time I saw it from outside, to the time I exited it, it was an awesome experience. It is not huge but it is elegant. The exhibits inside are also very interesting. The view of the surroundings through the windows is breathtaking. I just want you to experience it yourself.
