This Hotel is in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, and we could see the main Cathedral from our room. The central location is also close to Las Ramblas and the port. The staff was extremely helpful in helping us make the most of our short visit to Barcelona with excellent recommendations for paella and places to visit. They were also accommodating of another traveler who had arrived earlier in the morning after taking the night train from Madrid. Rooms are big and very clean. Recommend eating breakfast at a bar.

Me & my husband truly enjoyed our stay! Very clean bathroom & room. VERY GREAT/Central location to walk to many places, especially La Rambla. Only a few downsides: our bed was two twin beds pushed together so made it uncomfortable to sleep near my husband, the shower did not have a curtain just a kinda of side shield that didn't allow the whole floor & showering area to get wet, the breakfast was mediocre & some of the hotel desk men where grumpy & a little unfriendly. How ever, overall, we would stay here again!

Want to give a "shout out" to David and Jose, front desk staff, who did their utmost to be helpful to two guys and two gals staying a night (or two) waiting to catch the Liberty of the Seas.

The rooms were great (we were moved for the second night at our request) as we were hyper-sensitive to street revelers due to our jet lag disorientation. Breakfast also exceeded expectations.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are very large and one has a deck.

This Hotel is in the Gothic area of the main Cathedral, and sits in the shadow of its sister hotel the 4 star Colon, the 3 Star Regencia Colon sits in the street directly behind it. We arrived at Terminal 2 Barcelona Airport coming out onto the walk way of the airport in Zone B turn to your left and walk up to Zone A( 25 yards or so) where you can board the '' A2 Aerobus'' (colour of the bus is light blue ) they seem to run every 10 or 15 minutes or so, the price of a return ticket Barcelona airport to Placa de Catalunya (city centre) is euros 9.95 return per person, the ticket has to be used within 1 hour of purchase and expires after 9 days if your staying longer in Barcelona than 9 days a single ticket is 5.75 euros, the distance is 19kilometers and journey time is 20-30mins with stops enroute, average taxi price airport to city centre is 37 euros single. The bus final stop is Placa de catalunya outside the massive 'ingles de cortes' shopping mall. and your return to airport is at the same spot. buses are marked A1 (terminal 1) A2 (terminal2) the Hotel is about 6 minute walk Gothic area is sign posted. The room we had on a B&B basis was room 459 which has a view of a portion of the cathedral and square,(viewing window is hidden by a white roller blind behind the TV) clean and tidy double room with electronic safe/TV/ mini bar/Bath/shower,(the cathedral bell chiming the hours and quarters did not disturb our sleep) all the staff were pleasant polite and very helpful, Breakfast consisted of continental and cooked fare/ breads fruit etc more than ample. Those not on a B&B package there are lots of cafes yards from the hotel and a large farmers type market 'mercat de santa caterina' 100yds away from the hotel, The location of this hotel is ideal as you are in the centre of everything, its nice to explore the narrow streets ending up at the Ramblas with the thousands of other tourist enjoying this vibrant and amazing city. Crime in the area, 3 years ago I would have said good luck if you get back to your Hotel without seeing or hearing of street crime, the police now are very pro-active against criminals/pickpockets scammers etc. I am not saying don't be careful, but hopefully you will have a great and safe time as we did, on all our recent visits to Barcelona.

Room Tip: all the rooms ending in *59 ie 259/359 459/559 would appear to have a small porthole window which s...

This is an older hotel, just behind the main square of the Gothic Cathedral Plaza (“Cathedral Gotic”), so it is in a good, central Barcelona location. It had what we needed, was clean, comfortable and safe. The room had free Wi-Fi Internet, a mini refrigerator, a digital safe, air conditioning, and breakfast buffet was included.
The hotel was expensive, compared to other cities, but was in a good, central location for touring the city. The Gothic Cathedral was next door, Roman walls all around the area, and within walking distance of the metro/subway and the shopping/restaurant areas of the famed “Las Ramblas”. The Hop-On busses had stops a block from the hotel front door, which was convenient for touring. The primary front desk day clerk during our stay was David, who spoke excellent English, helped with questions about the Metro & trains (i.e., day trip to Montserrat), discount tickets for the Hop-On bus, as well as other sightseeing suggestions.
The hotel was clean, met our needs, my wife called it “Charming”. The walls were somewhat thin, so TV noise and neighbors were heard through the walls, as well as lights coming under the adjoining room door (a younger group that seemed to stay up most of the nights, while we were there), but it is an older building. The beds were hard and flat, so not soft and comfy as we find most places, but we were tired from jetlag and busy touring days, so we slept well anyway. The pillows were not very comfy either. It was noisy outside late into the night, then early morning noise as well, so upper floors and earplugs helped and worked. The included (in our booking) buffet breakfast was adequate, but we have had better such hotel buffet breakfasts elsewhere (i.e., the runny scrambled eggs were poor). The taxi ride to the cruise ship terminal was 23 Euro (with lots of added fees to a basic fare of E11.20). Barcelona was a fun city to tour and explore, and this made a good starting point for our visit.
