Reviewed 12 September 2012

Stayed here for the first time last weekend ( 8-10th Sept 2012) and we stayed in Room 6. We arrived at 11am - earlier than we had expected - and even though the room was not ready the helpful staff member took our bags, checked us in, gave us the room key and made it possible for us to go sighting seeing immediately in the city. Very much appreciated.
The hotel is right beside the Arc De Triomphe Metro station, but we had no disturbances from the traffic, Metro or anything like that and slept like logs every night without any need for earplugs.
We were at the rear of the property and had no balcony so it was not as atmospheric in the mornings however it was so quiet and cool in our room, we lived without the balcony and associated noise you would get towards the front of the building. So if you are a light sleeper- ask for a rear room and you will be fine.
Room and bathroom was private. The shower was quite small but there is a separate toilet room. Nothing was FANCY but all was clean, bright and practical. No complaints at all from us although if you were to stay there for a longer period or are back-packing and have large loads of luggage, it might be worth asking for a slightly larger room.
Overall, we would recommend the hotel (more like a hostal really) for good value for money, helpful staff with excellent English, great location and decent standard of accommodation.
The only downside is that there is no kitchen or breakfast options at the hotel. Luckily, across the placa is a great cheap bakery called Granier. E2.00 for a cafe con leche and a tostada. Also along Ronda Sant Pere are quite a few neighbourhood bars with E1.00 bottles of beer and cheap tapas, snacks and coffee, a few stay open late and there is even a kebab shop. WARNING- do not EAT or DRINK at the very very rubbish bar directly across the road called TROLE. The worst staff and the worse tapas EVER.. cannot stress highly enough how rubbish this bar is.

Room Tip: Stayed here for the first time last weekend ( 8-10th Sept 2012) and we stayed in Room 6. The hotel i...

THE SURRODINGS: The hotel have a great location, very close to the catalunya square (10 minutes walking in a normal pace) and just in the corner of the arc the triunf. There is 2 subway stop very close to the hotel and you will find a lot of cafe in a short walk distance or restaurant on the way to Catalunya square, also there is a Supermarket 2 blocks away that opens until very late around 2.am. and different clothes, cheap jewelry, books, anime and manga Stores around the hotel. 15 to 20 minutes walking is also the cathedral and the old gothic neighborhood.

THE HOTEL: The hotel is located on the 2 floor, without elevator, so if you have bi suitcases have these in mind, also the building it very old and can be very scary when you first time arrive to the place, but when you get in the hotel everything change. The place have recently renew and it is very small and cozy, the owners are the receptionists and they will be there only during the day helping you and also giving explanations and recommending you places to go. They give you secure codes for the entrance of the building and the door to the hotel.

THE ROOM: The rooms are recently renew with nice and comfortable beds, flat screen TV, little coffee machine, air-conditioned and security box. The bathroom is big enough and clean, the shower is fantastic, is one of those that have 3 different showers and music, the only problem is that the door to the bathroom was a crystal door, for a couple is perfect but we were sharing room with my mom, so at some point was kind of uncomfortable. The view was to an internal backyard and from the window of the bathroom you can see another room. Free-Wifi on the rooms. They do not change towel during your stay, but the last day before we leave we asked for new ones and the owner was very kind and change it!!! Also the other problem was that the sheets of the double was for a single bed, the first night my husband and I made a huge fight for the blankets, so the next day we told them that and they give us an extra blanket!.

TO CONCLUDE: If you are looking for luxury these is not your hotel, just go to a Hilton, if you are looking for a very nice budget-friendly place to sleep just in the middle of the touristic zone, these is your place.

Went there in july 2012 and it was ok, not great. It's over an underground train so everything vibrates when they're moving.. the smell in the bedroom was horrible and didn't go away even if we'd tryed.. But the staff was good.. Will not go there again.

Room Tip: There are 2 bedrooms that have windows out in the street that are maybe better than the other rooms...

We had a wonderful stay at the BruStar Gotic Hotel. The staff were all incredibly warm, friendly, and very accommodating.

The hotel was very much as described - not overly fancy but comfortable and clean; we stayed in a room that had everything a hotel would offer including a private bathroom and shower. Also, the location was perfect (1 min walk to metro or Arc de Triomf; 10 min walk to Plaça Catalunya).

I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Would recommend a room with a private bathroom.

We stayed at the BruStar Gotic Hotel in Juli while we attended a wedding and the experience was great. The walls are a little too thin, but for 49€ that we payed, it was great. The fournitures are from Ikea and look a little too old, but we had a nice shower, a TV and a window to the main street. It´s on a great location and good comunicated. The only thing is that we payed for a normal room and due to some intern problems we did become a much expensiver room, so I can´t really say how the cheap ones look like. But it was worth it!!
