Description: Chef, Romain Fornell. Michelin starred. The culinary style of Chef Romain Fornell and his team is contemporary cuisine, reinterpreting tradition and vanguard in his own creations. He is known for his daring, passion and balance. Caelis is a restaurant with tasting menus (we have two options). Plus, at midday from Wednesday to Saturday, we offer a lunch menu (Caelis Menu - €39 VAT included) that changes weekly. The restaurant has two separate spaces: on one side, the dining room with space for up to 24 guests at tables of varying sizes. On the other, an open kitchen with a horseshoe-shaped bar and stools where 12 more guests can watch everything that goes on behind the scenes. (When making your booking, let us know if you prefer to sit at the bar in front of the kitchen or a table in the dining room so we can take this into account. However, we cannot guarantee your seating location until we know exactly how many diners we will have for that service and their requirements. The restaurant and its culinary selection are not appropriate for small children. We ask you to please not bring children under 10. Thank you for your understanding. Romain Fornell opened Caelis in 2004 and earned a Michelin star the very next year. In 2014, Caelis was named one of the Gold Standard Restaurants 2014 by Condé Nast Traveler. In 2017, Caelis moved to Hotel Ohla Barcelona. The move is also a turning point in the restaurant's culinary offering and this new era will be more contemporary and less classical.

I struggled with this review. We went to this restaurant for my 60th birthday. First, the positive. The food was spectacular. Imaginative, beautifully presented and everything you would expect a Michelin rated restaurant to be. The crown of oysters, foie gras and flowers - wow.

The service was lovely and our waiter David was attentive. Alejandro, the wine steward was great at telling the story behind each wine.

So why only three stars? It was my birthday. I mentioned that in the reservation, and requested a table in the dining room. When we arrived, we found we were seated at the worst table....in the kitchen. Furthermore, it was in the corner and partially obstructed by a column so we could not fully view the chef.

According to the hostess, we had been notified in an email. We were served a complimentary glass of champagne to make up for the "inconvenience."

Sure enough, when we checked later we found a boilerplate email which went in to spam. It stated "When making your booking, let us know if you prefer to sit at the bar in front of the kitchen or a table in the dining room so we can take this into account. However, we cannot guarantee your seating location until we know exactly how many diners we will have for that service and their requirements."

I know I was clearly distressed at the treatment we received when we arrived. Once it became clear the restaurant was not willing to accommodate, we made the best of it.

A Michelin rated restaurant is in the business of creating memorable experiences. The food and service from wait staff was indeed memorable. But the attitude and approach towards respecting a customer's request on a special day was truly disappointing.

Ate here with the family for a special occasion. The food was excellent based on top products prepared with the right touch of daringness, the service was excellent, and a very pleasant atmosphere.
The lunch deal is great and generous - for 39 eur, you get a first+main+dessert, hors d'oeuvres, petite fours, water, wine and coffee, very tasty and interesting food, top service and an overall very nice experience!

Went to this restaurant on a friend's recommendation. After a lovely cocktail on the rooftop lounge, we arrived at our table. Every part of the setting and table settings was remarkable and beautiful. Had the Celebration tasting menu. From the first amuse bouche to the final dessert, we were challenged and delighted. Service was charming and attentive. Hard to pick a favorite dish but the Caviar with crab and cauliflower and the Beef were fantastic. We are thankful to have experienced this perfect example of creative dining can be. Bravo!

I've enjoyed many Michelin-starred restaurants. This is simply the best 1-star restaurant I've visited. Outstanding food, great service and an impressive wine list at a reasonable cost (for such fine dining). I will return as soon as I can
