Chanced upon this tapas place on a Sunday, it offers a great selection of freshly cooked dishes from cold, fried, hot items to dessert. The Gazpacho cold soup & squids are yummy. Every item is priced under Euro 2, really great value. Great personal service & big wine selection.

There are a number of excellent restaurants in & around Girona but if you are in the mood for a tapas & pinxos snack, give Txalaka a try.

We can only speak to the tapas & pinxos on offer at Txalaka. They do a fine job. They refresh the offerings regularly, now have more substantial outdoor seating & have txakoli.

My partner and I went to Txalaka for afternoon sangria after exploring Girona, & ended up staying well over 2 hours enjoying the self service tapas on the bar (& yet more sangria!). The tapas were delicious & authentic Catalan cuisine. A little off the beaten track which we prefer as authentic, less busy & great value compared to bars round the squares. Tapas were 1.60EUR each & the self service nature encouraged us to go out of our comfort zone & try some new dishes! Staff were on hand to explain what was what. We had a great time.

I have visited this restaurant for the past 20 years every time I go to Girona. It was an excellent basque cousin restaurant with a great fish soup. However, for the past few times (3 or 4), the food has been terrible, greasy and chewy meat and stale seafood, regardless if you choose from the lunch menu or a la carte at night.
I only recommend this place if you are in the mood for tapas and wine.

This place has horrible food. Don't understand how it gets 4 stars! Ordered from the daily special menu either 11 or 12€ per person. Steak was full of gristle and hard to cut let alone chew! Salads were iceberg lettuce with a smattering of other vegetables. The only decent item was the profiteroles. It's a large, busy restaurant and hard to get the attention of the servers. It was the worst food we ate on our 10 day visit to Barcelona and surrounding areas.
