Good food in a nice setting and with very friendly staff! Although in the touristic area, this restaurant is not overpriced and provides good food, wines and service!

Found this traditional Spanish cuisine restaurant on TripAdvisor and reserved through the site. It is a small cosy place with photos all over the walls showing the owner with many other guests. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. One waiter spoke perfect English as he lived in NYC for 3 years. Our family of four ordered steak tenderloin, two servings of veal, and an egg dish with baby eels!! The owner was very attentive and checked in at our table several times throughout the dinner. We received a complementary sample of an interesting appetizer with pork and mashed potato, great bread and olive plate, and palate cleaners between courses. This was one of our most enjoyable dining experiences on our Madrid trip. Highly recommend this place.

It was a pleasant dinner for 8 and everybody was happy with their dish. I would repeat. Try the tenderloin. It's a small restaurant, centrally located close to the Museum del Prado. The service staff are intuitive and helpful. The bill was €357, that's around €45 per person. Still Recommended!

Tucked away in a backstreet near Plaza del Cortes, this gem offers superb food and service. Incredibly professional. Spend a three hour lunch with them and enjoy. A potato dish from Avila, eggplant, chuletas, more & more. Superb wine selection. Don’t forget orujo afterwards.

Our hotel recommended this really delightful restaurant which was around the corner from where we were staying. It was a great recommendation ! We were impressed sufficiently after having lunch there when arriving in Spain, to returning for dinner at the end of our trip when leaving Spain.

The meals are substantial and this is an authentic Spanish dining experience so its a good idea to have a healthy appetite before arriving. We tried various Spanish dishes including suckling pig and were not disappointed. There were a number of small complimentary items provided to us which were not part of the cost of the meal and this added to our enjoyment (and waistline). The menu is designed to have shared plates which was an added bonus and the cost is not excessive for the quality and quantity of what is provided to diners.

Although not a large restaurant, both the dining experience and the staff have old school manners, style and generosity which are often sadly lacking in today's modern restaurants. We would return without a doubt to El Rincon de Esteban should there be a visit back to Madrid.
