Owner description: The Sorolla Museum preserves the original atmosphere of both home and study of the painter Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (Valencia, 1863 - Cercedilla, 1923). It houses the richest collection of his works, colourful paintings irradiating light and vitality. It is one of the more complete and best preserved artist homes remaining in Europe. The garden, also designed by himself, is a beautiful oasis in the city.

This building and garden in a mudéjar style, houses the great collection of Sorolla's paintings in a domestic ambiance, showing also porcelain, furniture, fabrics.

An absolute gem. Beautiful house and studio, You get a true feel as how artist and his family lived. Go early as later there may be a line to get in.

It houses the work of this painter. There are a couple of large airy rooms initially displaying his work including his former studio. The paintings are good and give the impression (as opposed to earlier painters) that Spain is after all in the Mediterranean climate and light. After that there are some rooms in his residence furnished as they were in his time. On the top floor are temporary exhibits.

We loved this collection and studio. Great insight into the life of a great artist. Nice to spend a little time in the courtyard garden.
