“Nice hotel for business visit”
Reviewed 18 February 2012

Really enjoyed staying here, the staff are great and can't do enough for you.

Because it's about a 30 minute walk from the centre of Madrid you do need to either enjoy walking OR catch cabs, but cabs are plentiful and reasonably priced in Madrid so this wasn't a major hassle. The upside of this meant it was nice and quite for sleeping at night which is really important on business visits. A cab into the city is about €8

The room was standard European size (not very big) but the bathroom was quite roomy. One critisism I do have is that the only English language tv they had was the interminably boring news networks. I don't speak Spanish so had to resort to watching CSI dubbed into Austrian, if I was there longer than a few days I'd say bring a multimedia player or download some movies or tv before you go. Also the internet was terribly slow.

We ate in the restaraunt for dinner one night, the food was really pretty nice, and it's an attractive conservatory dining room. I also had room serivce one night, it was a bit average. The room service menu and mini bar are ferociously expensive, like a lot of business hotels €6.50 for a small mineral water, so if you are visiting on your own dollar you'd want to stock up at the supermarket. The breakfast is €32, it's a nice breakfast though.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the inner courtyard, it's a longer walk from the lift but nice and qu...

Stayed here for just about a week. Hotel is in the banking area of the city, so the area is dead on the weekends....not complaining, makes it very peaceful and quiet. Metro stop located just two minutes around the corner. Very professional and courteous staff.

Hotel itself is not very large/imposing. Dining area is beautiful, but for me, the prices were on the high side ($7 USD for a piece of toast). However, coming here in the off-tourist season netted me a great room rate.

Would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard or roadway in front. First room looked out to one wing of t...

Stayed for two nights whilst taking in the sights of Madrid. It is about a 25/30 minute walk from Plaza Mayor but its a lovely walk and you get to see some lovely buildings etc. The road outside the hotel is very busy but it didn't hamper our sleep. Staff are very friendly and the waiters and barmen in the bar are the friendliest we encountered whilst in Madrid. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a traditional manner with a good sized bathroom and good selection of toiletries etc.

The Hotel is a 3 min walk from a metro station and this was ideal for our trip to and from the airport. We purchased a 3 day tourist metro ticket for 20 euros, we used the metro quite a bit, especialy at night.

Great hotel would book again!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, get a room at the back of the hotel away from the main road

This hotel is classy, helpful, clean, great food....just perfection. I travel a lot for business and this by far is one of the best places i've stayed.

The buffet is stupendous. The hotel rooms are clean and excellent. The balcony is so peaceful. It looks out onto the courtyard. Rooms are big, bed is SO COMFY!!!

My sister and I recently stayed at the Madrid Intercontinental Hotel January 26-30, 2012. When we arrived at the hotel after our early morning arrival, we were directed to the 1st floor Club to check in. Susanna Gari was wonderful, she greeted us by name and accommodated us for an early check in. I am a Royal Ambassador and so we were upgraded to a suite. It was truly luxurious. From the time we checked in until we left everything was flawless. I can certainly tell you that has not always been the case when I have stayed at some Intercontinental Hotels. We truly appreciated the professional manner of the entire staff. Pedro in the Club was great, we enjoyed visiting with him while we enjoyed our glass of champagne. Hope to return some day.

Room Tip: We never heard any noise anywhere.
