This is a very special hotel. The rooms are beautiful and unique, the staff is warm and friendly, and the location is perfect for exploring Matera. I would love to return. The experience of sleeping in a “luxury cave” is something I won’t soon forget!
What an amazing find! The Pianelle resort is exceptional. Nestled in the heart of the city, great access to bars and restaurants. The rooms are amazing and carved into the rock or renovations to feel so special. This is a definite must stay experience. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!!

Asia in housekeeping who was so lovely-she went out of her way to accommodate our requests and made sure she was there to say goodbye when we checked out. She is a breath of fresh air and an asset for this hotel!
Christian at check in was most helpful to make recommendations for restaurants in the area and help us with transportation options.
The breakfast offered was excellent with many options and traditional Piatto Cialledda and Foccacia which were both delicious!
The hotel is centrally located in the Sassi with many restaurant options nearby.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this delightful hotel and would stay there again without any hesitations!

The rooms are just amazing and breakfast was very good. It is situated right in the heart of the historic town with lots of great restaurants near by.

Well worth a visit
My wife and I stayed here for one night to see Matera. The hotel, our room, and amenities were all outstanding. A particular compliment to Rocco at the reception desk who gave us great advice for our next stop in Bari and Linda at the bar who was very gracious. The location is perfect to walk and see the sights of Matera. I agree that using the hotel’s parking arrangement outside of Sassi with the accompanying shuttle is the best way to proceed.
