This is a fairly typical 30 year old hotel in a slightly awkward location. The building looks tired and the rooms are on the small side but adequately furnished.
It is about a 15 minute walk to the Sassi which of course is the main attraction in Matera which just about makes it acceptable as a location. It is a favourite with the tour companies and there is a constant turnover. There are no other restaurants or bars near the hotel so a walk to town is essential.
On the plus side the free WIFI is good as is the Sky TV connection which included BBC World News.
Breakfast was adequate without being memorable.
The lifts are inadequate so it's better to get a room on a lower floor if possible so you can walk up the stairs if necessary.
Overall, this is fine for a few days but certainly no longer.
