This is not a room, it is a spacious apartment: room, sitting room, dining room (a table with all kinds of food for breakfast!) a friut basket, etc. A fully equipped kitchen, a refrigerator with food of all kinds. Several options of coffee and tea. The location is incredible. We were offered a private (unforgettable) visit to the San Giorgio stassi.
In short, everything was way beyond what we expected. Truly, a dream!

Our trip to Matera was all too short; but we will remember and cherish it forever due in a large part to the hospitality and friendliness of the staff at Hotel San Giorgio. From the time we arrived, we were treated like family. Our mini suite was beautiful and well equipped. The suite was clean and comfortable. The furnishings were lovely and it was clear that a lot of effort, time and expense; in short, heart and soul, were put into making Hotel San Giorgio a warm and welcoming place. I really can't find words to thank you: what you said about our hotel, your suite, and the staff literally moved me. It is true, we have put our heart and soul into restoring each of the suites, one at a time, and bringing this widespread hotel to life. For the price, we had a great room. Clean, comfortable and actually beautiful. The hotel registration is actually about a 6 minute walk from the room we stayed at, but the people were always readily available. It’s about halfway from the top of the town to the bottom, so there will be some climbing involved, but it is located in a secluded street, so we didn’t have to deal with many people. There is a fantastic restaurant (Lucany) almost next door. I will definitely stay here again if life brings me back to Matera.

We stayed in a Junior Suite, Vicinato, for 3 nights, an absolutely wonderful experience. It was spacious, clean, bright and comfortable. Well positioned to get to all the restaurants, not too far up or down for a senior couple in their 70s. Dragging wheeled suitcases would be a challenge on the cobble stones. We especially appreciated the in-room breakfast and outside terrace for a glass of wine . It was easy to leave our car at TA&CO parking lot and get a shuttle to the hotel. A very pleasant stay and highly recommended.

Oddly enough, we had never slept in a cave before, but this was a delightful experience. The rooms of the hotel are separated by a short distance from the reception (a quirk of Materan geography) but it is unimportant. The room is more than large enough, well appointed with a decent size and very comfortable bed and luxurious linen. Breakfast is in your room waiting for you to make the following morning with everything you need for a generous continental breakfast. There’s a good sized fridge, and we had arranged a bottle of chilled Prosecco to be waiting. The staff were lovely and accommodating
