My wife and I stepped into Chisea di San Pietro in Vinculus (St Peter’s Church) when we were tired of walking around Salerno and needed a break. This little church turned out to be an oasis of calm although it was located in a busy square named Piazza Portanova.
The premises were clean and lovingly maintained. There are Renaissance paintings on the walls and the ceiling has elaborate frescos which have turned dark with age.
We found that there were just a handful of worshippers, who sat in silence. We sat there for a few minutes and stepped out feeling quite refreshed.
