we had a spotlessly clean large well furnished room with a very large comfortable bed. we booked only a few weeks before going and expected to be at the back of the hotel but had a room with a little patio right by the pool with an amazing view-very very pleased with the whole hotel and restaurant. the free bus into town much appreciated and always on time. would definatly go back.

Room Tip: rooms at front of hotel have the most amazing views

Apologies for not writing this review sooner, however, I wanted to ensure that we had booked our return trip before you got fully booked!!, I know that is rather selfish of me! However, the review .....I have returned from what I can only describe as an incredible and wonderful 2 week holiday. I’d like to take time first of all to thank all the team members as it’s the people that make a hotel stay enjoyable. All staff were extremely polite, helpful, courteous and above all friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks to barmen Carmine who looked after us so well and whose local knowledge of the area was fantastic, Giovanni, (the best cocktail maker ever, especially cosmopolitans), Antonio who always greeted us with a smile and then the restaurant waiters who were professional and friendly, special thanks to Antonio, Tonino and Franco and to “Mr Chicken”.

Our room wasn’t a sea view, however, I did have a great room with a mezzanine floor for the bedroom area, lounge area, shower room and a good size patio, filled with pot plants and shrubbery so was very pretty and quite private two chairs and a table plus two sun loungers where the sun was until around 6pm.

The hotel itself boasts a stunning vista. The views are incredible and something I wouldn’t tire of, especially Mount Versuvious and the bay of Sorrento and in the evening the twinkling lights were beautiful.

We stayed half board and the food was lovely with an excellent variety and something to suit everyone. Breakfast was buffet style with so much choice I’d finding myself wandering for about 10 minutes trying to choose! Dinner was chosen from a set daily menu with approximately 4 or 5 choices for each starter, main and desert and also don’t forget the salad bar which is like another course in itself – I defy anyone to go hungry in this hotel. Lots of walking necessary to burn off the extra calories and the delicious cakes!

The hotel also offers light entertainment in the evening with a singer, easy listening music or light opera. However, one of the highlights for me as I enjoy cooking, was the complimentary cooking school which happens on a Wednesday for 2 hours. You learn about the Italian way of cooking and some basic rules from the Head Chef and one of his assistant Chefs and then make a 3 course dinner. It was great fun, with lots of laughter…. But then that was the whole holiday, lots of fun, lots of laughter, plenty to do and sightseeing galore! So much so that we have already booked our return trip to the Grand President Hotel, Sorrento – Cant Wait!

Apologies for this essay of a review, but the whole experience staying at the Grand President Hotel, Sorrento – was fantastic!

The only problem was the location. The only way to get to the town was by shuttle bus or taxi (very expensive) and the shuttle bus didn't come very often. The food was good and the chefs were able to accommodate picky eaters. The view of sorrento was great. Overall it is a good hotel but I wouldn't go back because of the location.

This was our second visit after initially going in 2013.
It was just as good and after getting a great deal with Thomsons it was actually cheaper.
Our first room actually had a mezzanine floor for the bed with a spiral staircase overlooking a derelict building but was changed immediately after I said it was unsuitable for my wife. The
second room was much better although it was on level four facing a brick wall (a very nice brick wall with tile inserts) with patio area. We did not have a sea view but we had not booked one and we were rarely in the room except for sleeping. The views from the restaurant, pool area, solarium are outstanding.
The staff are brilliant, so friendly, and we remembered many of them from our previous visit. Food was great with plenty of choice and so much better being waiter service. We didn't do a lot as we had seen all the sights before so just lazed around the pool or solarium with visits to Sorrento, via the hotel bus (Tony the driver is an asset to the hotel) for lunch or coffee/ice cream etc. It was lovely weather with just one day of rain so pretty good for mid October. I would recommend taking insect spray or antihistamine as I was bitten and quite a few others were as well.
We made new friends and all in all it was a great relaxing break which was just what we wanted. Don't try and do too much as it will tire you out and you can go to Pompei by train for four euro which is only half an hour and you can get the local bus to Amafi and Positano which is much cheaper than the Thomson tours.
Well done Grand Hotel President.

We went for a deluxe sea view and it was well worth it - non sea view rooms look out on to a brick wall. It was wonderful to see the sun rise and Naples Bay come to life.
The restaurant staff - led by the excellent Antonino - were outstanding. They were both very professional and friendly; they were welcoming and made us feel like individuals who were special. They worked long days and yet were always chatty and smiling.
We were on half-board and the food was excellent (but you had to choose carefully) - the starters were the best part of the Dinner menu. The risotto was very very good. Lots of fish to choose from too and very local food (though not pizzas!).
The courtesy coach to the town was very useful - Tony the driver was another member of staff who went the extra mile and was always smiling. You can walk down to the town too.
Don't judge this hotel by first impressions because on arrival and whenever we spoke to them afterwards the reception staff were sullen, unfriendly and completely disinterested in us or other guests.

Room Tip: Deluxe Sea View or choose another hotel
