This was an ancient monastery up on the hill, surrounded by orchards and overlooking the city, My. Vesuvius and the sparkling Bay of Naples. Today they have reinvented it, and there are corners waiting to be explored, from the roof top garden carved into the cliffs compete with swimming pool and fountains, to the balconied 5 star restaurant, to the chapel equipped for weddings, to the banquet hall, meeting rooms, quaint museum, and other rooms still being created, grotto like, into the sandstone cliffs. The service is polite and understated making you feel free to be yourself. While the city was hit and stuffy, here there was a breeze and it was a pleasant temperature. Sparkling clean and utterly unique and charming. A sophisticated reinterpretation of the historical space.

Stayed with older children after a week in Sorrento. As others suggests . staying in the hotel is like staying in a museum. Rooms amazing with the most comfortable beds! Staff were excellent and dinner at the 4th floor restaurant .complete with pianist was a fantastic end to our holiday!

Spent a magical night in this lovely 16th century hotel while visiting Naples. Beautiful, understated décor with lots of original touches. We spent a fairy tale evening wandering around a series of individual rooms and passages, drifting toward the restaurant. It's an oasis of calm in the bustle of the city.

Our room was clean, spacious and attractive with a terrace that provided a superb view over the city and port. staff were friendly & helpful, letting us book in 3 hours early! Staying in this beautiful hotel was one of the highlights of our trip.

Room Tip: get one of the few rooms with a terrace

We stayed for five nights in the middle of August and had a superb time. The hotel looks pretty plain and unremarkable from the outside but the welcome and the ambiance once you enter is great! We were welcomed warmly by Chiara who had already done a good job in organising our trip to Pompeii - she then escorted us to our lovely room complete with an original round window from the monastery that looked over the bell tower.

Our triple room (for my wife and me plus our 12 year old daughter) was spacious and elegant with a good sized bathroom with a great shower. The pool and terrace area on the top floor of the hotel is its real jewel. Naples is a great city but inevitably busy and so it's great to have access to such an oasis of calm. It's a beautiful setting and you could really believe that your miles away in the countryside - particularly with the grape vines all around the rooftop lunchtime restaurant. The roof terrace might look quite small on some photographs but there is plenty of room in a series of different spaces and we were always able to find a comfy spot. The staff on the roof terrace were always very helpful and friendly and more than willing to bring towels and drinks.

The menu choices for lunch on the rooftop terrace were just right for a light lunch in a lovely peaceful setting. The main restaurant also has a great terrace with a fantastic view down into the port and across the bay to Vesuvius. The buffet breakfast was very fine and dinner was definitely a treat. The evening menu isn't cheap but with careful menu selection definitely an experience not to be missed with lovely food and a view to die for.

Of course many people have mentioned the great job the hotel has done in retaining the original features from the monastery - they really do make this a unique place to stay.

We were particularly impressed by how helpful and knowledgeable all the reception team were - and more than willing to give us suggestions on places to visit and eat or just provide directions. But overall we had a sense of highly professional and friendly service from a well established.

The location of the hotel really couldn't be better as far enough up the hill to be nice and calm but still only a few minutes walk to furniculars that provided direct access to both the old town and the city centre.

All in all a great and beautiful hotel for a relaxed city break with super service and lovely staff - thank you!!

Lovely old fashioned hotel, very grand and historic. Our room was spacious and very clean. The restaurant served fantastic food and had a good range of drinks, albeit it a little bit pricey. Lovely rooftop terrace for drinks and food. There was also a rooftop pool and sunbeds, towels provided by hotel. Would definitely recommend. Really friendly and helpful staff.
