The hotel is rather lovely, positioned as it is in a 16th century monastery above the city. Full of history, it also has a wonderful open air restaurant and bar, with sweeping views over Naples. Truly spectacular.
We had booked a room with balcony so were allocated one without window(door only) to a sheltered balcony with same view as above. Beautiful. Sadly for a non smoking hotel however, the pot plant and dying foliage, were strewn with cigarette butts, indicating for our 3 night stay, that housekeeping did not manage this area at all...huge oversight. The previous smokers in the room were probably also responsible for the unpleasant room deodorizer that penetrated the room on our first night....I suspect this was to disguise the smell of smoke...But the room was dark and very quiet. The bathroom was way too small, with bidet, toilet and most ridiculous shower cocoon ever experienced. Its uneven flooring was nauseating and tiny size impossible to enjoy. The spa jets were also broken. Totally out of character for such an old establishment and replacement with something simple yet functional, highly recommended. The air conditioning was also very, very loud.
Reception and waiting staff were attentive and friendly. No complaints there. Overall, a well positioned, fairly priced hotel (we walked everywhere from here)
