The hotel was wonderful and the view honestly breathtaking. You wake up looking at the Vesuv and just instantly want to go explore this crazy city. Everything was very clean and they managed the mix of modern and ancient styles very well. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. We could not use the pool because it was already too cold but it seems really nice. Oh, and great Location to explore the city/islands/Pozzuoli etc

We stayed here for a long weekend 15-18 September and chose the hotel based on the trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed the hotel certanley lived up to its reputation. We booked a superior room and were allocated number 61 which was on the 6th floor. The room was just fantastic with views of the bay of naples and vesuvius, You must explore the hotel as each floor holds a surprise from old monks cells to lavish nativity scenes, the best floor to explore is the 3rd which is like a small museum.
we found the hotel a great base to explore the city below and the best way to get up and down the hillside was using the funicular railway which is only a couple of hundred
metres from the hotel and only costs 1.10 euro each way. We dined in the restaurant on 2 nights and found the food and service very good.
The one thing that makes the hotel stand out is the customer service as every member of staff went out of their way to make sure we had a special stay. The reception gentleman and ladies were just great, helping to arrange visits to local attractions and explaining where we needed to go and how to get there.
Many thanks for the wine and chocolates in the room for my wife who was celebrating her birthday. The stay was that good that we are already planning to return next May and for a longer stay

Room Tip: higher floors have great views over the bay

We spent four nights at this fantastic hotel to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. From the moment we checked in all the staff were extremely friendly, efficient and professional.

We had a junior suite which was both spacious and charming with stunning views across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. We ate at the hotel every night because the food, service, atmosphere and view was unbelievably good. A special mention for the restaurant manager and staff ( including the pianist ) who made us feel very welcome every time we visited the 4th floor terrace.

The reception staff were excellent and really helped us by booking us on excursions to Capri and Pompeii at short notice. They really care about their guests and seem proud to work in this beautiful hotel.

Overall it would be very difficult to get a better hotel than the Hotel San Francesco al Monte which is why we will definitely be going back.

Stunning building with incredible terrace views, very comfy bed and a bath tub with a jacuzzi! Shame we had to pay extra to use the spa facilities - I feel they should've been included in the price. The building has lots of quirky rooms and beautiful features - it's worth exploring! I ordered a glass of prosecco on the rooftop bar and it came with a free selection of juicy olives, local meats and cheese. Highly recommended.

This was an ancient monastery up on the hill, surrounded by orchards and overlooking the city, My. Vesuvius and the sparkling Bay of Naples. Today they have reinvented it, and there are corners waiting to be explored, from the roof top garden carved into the cliffs compete with swimming pool and fountains, to the balconied 5 star restaurant, to the chapel equipped for weddings, to the banquet hall, meeting rooms, quaint museum, and other rooms still being created, grotto like, into the sandstone cliffs. The service is polite and understated making you feel free to be yourself. While the city was hit and stuffy, here there was a breeze and it was a pleasant temperature. Sparkling clean and utterly unique and charming. A sophisticated reinterpretation of the historical space.
