“Bad luck we got, also untrue information from them.”

We tried their Mt Vesuvious tour. We were not informed in advance that the entrance gate to the top could be closed due to the weather. It was so windy there and even snowing a little. The gate was closed. I think they had a way to know about this. Bad luck. Another thing, this is bothering me a lot, the lady in Pompeii office said that Herculaneum is far away from the nearest train station, it takes 30 minutes walk. She was trying to sell us the tour for that. I found out later that the ruin is just 10 minutes walk from the nearby train station.

We decided to go up Vesuvius with these guys instead of from Herculaneum as we were already in Pompeii. They took us up (there were no seat belts) and there had been an accident that caused the road up to be closed, so we stopped and waited for it to clear. After maybe 20mins the driver began to take us back down, when he got a call from his boss telling us to stay.

We waited there in the heat for what seemed like forever and even if the road was cleared we wouldn't have had enough time at the top. When we finally got down and asked for a refund they were uncoopertaive and said we could only take a replacement tour tomorrow. A lot of arguing later, we finally got our refund.

NOT RECOMMENDED - go with Vesuvio Express from Herculanium instead.

We consider ourselves to be seasoned independent travellers and made our way to Pompeii by public transport. We visited the official tourist office 1st and were given advice and a map. The kind lady there was unable to give us an up to date guide book as they were out of stock of English ones. She directed us towards the ruins.

On route to the ruins, I can only describe as being "waylaid" and encouraged to go into the Tourist Info point where the young lady advised us about the ruins and which places to view. She gave us a map and suggested a guidebook priced at 15 Euros. Marked as special price on the label. Thinking this was good advice as it was an official looking place, we decided to purchase the book and parted with our cash.

On arrival at the site of the ruins, we paid 13 euros each and were given a map and a guidebook at no extra cost.

We then discovered the map from the Tourist info point was out of sync with the layout and the mapping system of the ruins. Whilst sitting having a rest we pulled the label back to see the official price was only 8.50, half of what we paid.

intentionally luring tourists into their office and ripping them off knowing they will more than likely be unable to return is despicable and people need to be warned about this place.

These people saw we were a bit lost and stopped us saying they provide info for tourists. I am not not going to talk about money, these guys just left us on top of Vesuvius. It took us 2 hours to return back to Pompeii and calling Salvatore, he would give me a new excuse every 2 seconds.
First he said the bus should leave 5:10 PM and that the bus driver called him at 5:12 saying we didn't show up and we are late and he needs to move.
When I answered and told him this could not be because there is no network in the whole Vesuvius region, he said that the bus driver called him at 5:30 PM stating the incident. When I asked how could he be sure that the bus driver was correct and left at 5:12 and not earlier? He answered that the bus driver left because the bus was full so he supposed that everybody was on board. Maybe other people came into the bus.. After a long discussion he said at 5:30 he had left the office and only at 6 when they were closing they called him to tell him there was still a car in their parking, this is when he understood that some were left up there.
This is simply unacceptable and non-professional.
Let us talk money now: we paid 40 Euros for the bus, then 20 or 24 Euros for the entrance, then 80 Euros to get back by other transportation not to mention walking half of Vesuvius downwards till we found a taxi.
Be aware that in the mountain, there is no network coverage, no cars, no bus to pick you up... You are on your own.. And those people did not get back for us. They simply abandoned us.
