We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. As we were on a tight budget in an expensive city we took the cheapest rooms in the hotel and were based on the ground floor. The room was very small and quite dingy as there was no window, however it was spotless and the beds were really comfortable. We were very near to the breakfast room and there was a small amount of noise from 7am onwards (mainly cutlery) but due to the queues at the major attractions in Rome I would recommend an early start anyway so this was a great wake up call. One of the major city guide books gives the impression that this hotel is in a rougher area but we found it to be perfectly normal and safe- there are loads of gelaterias, restaurants and shops nearby and it's a nice place for a stroll after dinner. The area is quite touristy and not picture postcard Rome, but I found it to be part of the fun.
The staff at the hotel were very welcoming and the breakfast buffet was perfect and set us up for the day.

I spent 9 nights at Hotel Opera Roma in Rome with two friends, and the stay was great. Wonderful beds, breakfast and a concierge that got out of his way to make sure we did not get lost taking the train, bus or just walking. Rezza, I believe that is how is written is one of the best, if not the best concierge I have met in all my travelings and I do a lot of it. Thanks Hotel Opera Roma for a great stay!

We had booked a room at Hotel Sonya, recommended by Rick Steves. However, when we arrived, they told us they had put us in their sister hotel, Hotel Opera Roma. It is right down the street and our reception was warm and friendly. This was our first night in Italy (ever), so the reception was important to us.

Our room was on the third floor. It was European small but comfortable enough. Thankfully, there is an elevator since I can't imagine having to schlep our luggage up all those stairs. It was comfortable and quiet except for one day when I was serenaded by lovely violins and a soprano practicing in the opera house next door. Certainly nothing to complain about.

The hotel is a good value for the location. Close to the subway (waaaayyy crowded) and the buses (less so). It's also within walking distance of the Vatican Museum, the Forum, and the Pantheon. There are probably nicer hotels in other areas, but we were perfectly happy here.

The breakfast buffet, included in the rate, was wonderful. Freshly squeezed orange juice, pastries, ham and cheese, specialty coffees, fresh fruit, all served on white table cloths.

We have just come back from 3 nights at the hotel opera Roma. The staff were very friendly and helpful, pointing us in the direction of the sights when we first arrived. Our room was lovely, clean and spacious with everything we needed. The breakfast was tasty and set us up for our day perfectly. Would definitely recommend the hotel to others. Thanks!

If there was a 2.5 stars rating, I would give it - between poor and average! I chose the Hotel Opera Roma based on previous reviews and was generally disappointed. Getting stuck in the lift (1 mtr square cage) on our first trip to our room probably didn't help on Day 1 but just generally disappointing. We normally choose mid-price hotels on city breaks and this was below average - cannot compare to other hotels in Rome as haven't stayed in any others. It is a small hotel, no lobby to hang round in, tiny buffet breakfast with no hot food on offer. Tiny shower cubicle although shower was powerful. Just a strange hotel experience - will definitely not be staying there again or recommending.
