Description: In the hearth of ancient Rome, in a small corner of the old capital is a place almost hidden, rocked by the streets of a Rome of the past but still forever where one feels the most authentic Roman “La taverna degli amici” was born so , quiet, away from the daily noise, where the scents and smells capture attention to the Roman walks in the streets between the Capitol, the Teatro Marcello and the Ghetto. The simple yet refined cuisine, tasty but not heavy, offers a unique opportunity to pass moments in which taste and beauty come together in the customer’s Taverna with fresh dishes and not binding at ‘sign of the oldest and most famous Roman tradition.

Thin crust delicious pizza with prosciutto.
Admirable waiters. The location is also very cosy, especially for the lunchtime, when there are few people

Liz and I had dinner at this charming restaurant while doing some writing research while in Rome - we stayed in this charming piazza. A lovely dining experience, with great wines, a lovely welcome, and a vibrant but relaxed atmosphere in this charming local restaurant. Many thanks - Mark Thompson.

A lunchtime walk about the area of the Forum, we happened upon an area of narrow winding streets and in a small open area found this charming restaurant with outdoor seating. Took a chance and we were not disappointed! We shared the eggplant parmesan, then a pizza BUT the eggplant was so good we ordered another to the surprise (and delight) of the server. Unrushed, easy going, great place to enjoy a bottle of wine with good food and experience la dolce vita. Reasonably priced, good food...go and enjoy it.

Nice cozy quiet location on back street very near Piazza Venezia in the heart of tourist Rome. Sat down, received menus from an assistant who ordered wine and water for us, which came quickly. We then waited 10 minutes before the single imperious waiter with S. Dali mustache deigned to take our order. Apparently no one else was empowered to do so. We only wanted a light lunch and decided to split a small plate of pasta which the waiter apparently deemed below some respectable service threshold. We then waited another 35 minutes before asking about and finally receiving our food which was relatively bland. The bill for 3 oz of house red, bottle of water and the pasta was $25.
