Even when the owner Valerio knew 1 month in advance our arrival time and date we had to make an international call to tell them we were outside, and wait 20 minutes to go into a decrepit hall, and enter in an underground room beside Valerio's house (what he calls the BB). No heating, no beds (1 sofa and 2 camp beds), no extra blankets, no towels (he gives you kind of large napkins), there is an infernal noise all night, you can't sleep, worst breakfast we had in all Europe. If you need something, you have to call him from your mobile cause there is not telephone in the room. It's a shame he doesn't recognize his faults. He offers you shuttle service from the airport almost 50% more expensive than an average taxi there. I have my phone receipts and his mails to prove we were there.

sofia652009, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Bed and Breakfast Double B, responded to this reviewResponded 27 December 2012

Dear,
i repeat with mine first reply and only it more:
I'm sorry that TRIPADVISOR accept two reviews from the same person but i wiil ask to make 2/3 reviews at same happy guest...... ;)
I'm sorry but you staied in another place (in the same builbing there are 3 and in the same street a lot of B&B-guest house and hotel) and not at Double B.
Here i have three rooms all with private bath inside and large common area for breakfast .
So the area is very nice, liberty style and near Colosseo with a lot of restourants ...
You can check Double B the next time to see a nice Guest House and B&B service.
I'm sorry for this review, BUT not for score, because you didn't see DOUBLE B ...

We spent five nights at Double B and had a fantastic time.
Yes, you have to pay in cash upon arrival, but this seems to be quite common for this type of accommodation in Rome. We had notified them of our arrival time and, as agreed upfront, someone was waiting for us. A pleasant person who even suggested some things-to-see which we hadn't thought of, despite our thorough preparation.
The apartment looked brand new, very clean and hardly used. We had a 4 bed bedroom, private bathroom, all fresh and clean. A jointly used (with an elderly couple) and generous kitchen and even a private washing machine. Service was excellent: clean towels every day, as well as fresh fruit, coffee, milk, fruit juice, crackers, cookies, jam etc. Regularly cleaned bed linen also. The apartment itself was cleaned daily and we can absolutely not recognize the negative comments about cleanliness of the apartment. We had a perfectly working hot shower, although with 4, you need to use it economically.
Double B's location is fantastic; just a 15 minutes walk straight to the Colosseum. Metro station Manzoni is virtually around the corner - we used the metro daily and can highly recommend this as it is cheap and efficient. There were a fair number of good restaurants within walking distance also.
Two items of attention / concern though: first and foremost, we found out during our first night that the neighboring bakery made a lot (!) of noise during the (first half of the) night. Bring ear plugs if you have trouble sleeping! I wish I had. This happened during 4 of our 5 nights. Very irritating if you walk Rome all day and need your sleep to recharge. Secondly, the wifi connection relied on a router in another neighboring apartment (same owner). We had the key to this apartment - simply resetting the router fixed the problem. You may want to check that you do have access to the other apartment, should the same issue arise.

Do NOT book this hotel, they are a bunch of scammers!!!! I booked this place early in the year, hoping to have a great vacation with my family. We arrived in the hotel late at night (I advised the hotel of our arrival time), no one opened the door. We rang the door bell 4 - 6 times, waited for nearly 1 hr., no one answered. We were forced to take another hotel nearby for the night, the next morning we went back, rang door bell, knocked on the door, again waited for nearly 1 hr., no one answered. My family and I had to walk around to find a hotel. Moreover, they were very quick to charge our CC, for the full amount, what scammers. I contacted the hotel and they said we didn't show up! really I flew from U.S. for this B.S. Think again, better book a place for a bit more $, I tried to save and got ripped off.
