This was our first time to Rome and Hotel Dei Mellini was perfect in every way. First location, in a quiet back street surrounded by restaurants (excellent), cigar shop (me) fashion shops (wife) cafe bars with stupendous cakes (both). Five minute, pleasant river walk across Ponte Nenni to Piazza Popolo that starts you off on the top end of Via del Corso full of fashion shops and leading to the Spanish Steps.
Our room 502 was spacious, clean with mini bar. Shower was always hot, bathroom well appointed plus bidet. We didn't use room service but there was a nice selection well priced.
Reception staff are fantastic and will sort out any reasonable request for us it was organizing a chauffeured evening tour of Rome by Marco, not cheap but well worth it. Marco is a very nice man who knows Rome very well.
Roberta on reception is highly recommended her 'can do' attitude is a credit to the hotel.
Also special mention goes out to Larissa on the bar who is so pleasant and accommodating. She mixes a great Negroni cocktail and really looked after us with nibbles and snacks.
House keeping are great, always making up the room, providing extra pillows and turning down the bed sheets.
Breakfast was all you could eat buffet with Continental cold meat & cheese, cereal, bacon, eggs, sausage, toast Tec. Nice strong coffee great start to the day.
The bar is in reception next to the smoking area in the atrium great way to end the day with a Glenfiddich and Cuban cigar (€7 for a Romeo & Juliet#2)
All in all I highly recommend this hotel if you visiting Rome and doing it properly

Rome is not about spending time in a hotel - but what we found with the Mellini is it is right by the river and kind of midway between Centra Storico and Vatican City so ideally located! Breakfast was good with a mix of cooked and continental options. The room (we were in 506) was comfortable with good shower and reasonable amount of space. If I had one criticism - the bar area, was very quiet, so if you are having a nightcap - have it at one of the local bars or restaurants!

We stayed here recently with our friend's on a four night visit to Rome and we were very satisfied with our choice of hotel. The staff were all so friendly, polite and most obliging. As it was our friend's 60 birthday I asked the receptionist when I checked in if she could arrange for something special for him, and she ordered a bottle of proscecco with 4 glasses to be Eli weed to our friend's' room! The position of the hotel was very central for many of the attractions and the staff were most helpful in directing us to the best! And the rooms were so quiet with very comfortable
Very
Breakfast was very relaxed and filling!
The rooms were not huge but very comfortable,
Definitely A place to be revisited!xx

We can not speak highly enough of this hotel and it's staff!! Great location to all of the tourist attractions, we walked to the Colleseum in 30 minutes. Breakfast has everything you could wish for, room size is perfect and traditionally decorated. The minibar not overly expensive. We actually used the gym during our stay which has everything you need to burn off some pasta! The staff are beyond helpful and friendly, every evening we had a drink in the bar before bed which was mainly because the staff made us feel so welcome! We would recommend just getting a taxi from the airport straight to the hotel, don't bother with the train, I'd read that it was quicker to get the train but we got a taxi on the way home and it took the same amount of time and was a lot less stressful. We will be staying again for our next visit to Rome.

We booked our hotel as friends had stayed there and told us it was lovely. It was lovely. The staff were very friendly from the reception staff through to the evening bar staff.
We were given a map highlighting all the sight seeing attractions. Which was very helpful.
We were a 10 min walk from the Vatican and Sistine chapel and 25mins walk from the colloseum but seeing so much on route well worth the walk rather than getting the tube.
10 mins from the posh shops! All in all a good location.
Vito restaurant just down the road on the other side was lovely well worth a try.
My only negative about the hotel was the bed and view. The bed was a very hard mattress and they only give you 1 pillow each. We meant to ask each evening for another pillow but were too shattered from our busy days sight seeing once getting back to the room. We asked for a courtyard view and we did get it but being on the 5th floor you can't see it unless you lean out of the window so our view was the other side of the hotel.
The gym is useful and a lovely roof terrace.
Breakfast was continental and bacon/little sausages, scrambled egg, pastries, fruit, yogurts, cereals, you can boil your own egg too so a good choice, bread to toast, rolls etc...
We had a lovely weekend.
