Will definitely return next visit to Rome. Location is so handy to Termini station, or reception get taxis in minutes. The staff were so helpful especially Mauro on reception and the waiters on the roof top terrace (beautiful view).

My stay at the Independent Hotel was truly one to remember! Our hotel room was modern, clean, comfortable and the coverage of the World Cup on the top floor was great. The front desk lady, Giada, was very kind and helped take care of our large luggage before our short trip to Venice and the bartender, Mark, has very polite and helpful during breakfast. The hotel is located close to the Metro, making it easy to get around the city. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cheap and high quality hotel in Rome.

I thought that I could save some money by booking a highly-recommended boutique hotel rather than going with a 5-star flagship in Rome. I was sorely disappointed.

We were given a junior suite on the first floor with a balcony. This appeared to be the only room with a balcony in the hotel. Every rose has its thorns, though. The balcony doors were extremely poorly insulated to the extent that we could hear each time a car drove over the wobbly manhole cover outside (and, literally, everything else).

I was relegated to sleeping on the sofa on the other side of the suite. It was comfortable and quiet enough the first night, but, starting the second night, it became apparent that every shifting of weight in the room above ours caused a loud creaking sound in the ceiling. In a hotel such as this, having to rise with your neighbors or for the paving project on the street out front should not be a necessity.

At the price we paid, the lodge should be a fixture of the vacation, but The Independent Hotel was merely an afterthought. Waters in our minifridge were never replaced. The breakfast buffet was free but mediocre. The entryway is narrow and it's awkward to stand near the front desk if there is even one other person there. Compared to a 5-star hotel, you sacrifice essentially all ammenities and most comforts aside from a friendly face at the front desk.

The hotel is in a great location and the water pressure in the handheld shower is some of the best I've ever encountered. I believe we were also given a free bottle of wine as a welcome gift. Other than these things, nothing about the hotel exceeded average and my experience was not consistent with what I would expect from a 4-star hotel.

The Independent Hotel is in a good location about 5 minutes walk from the Central train and metro station. It is also a 15 -20 minute walk to the major tourist attractions. The hotel also provides a mobile phone with internet and tourist guide apps for use throughout your stay.

The staff without a fault always greets you with a smile and a hello. They are extremely helpful and no questions were too difficult for them to answer.

The room was clean, modern, and large for Europe. We had a comfortable King size bed, a chaise lounge at the foot of the bed and a table for two. There is a laptop size safe in the closet. The bathroom was a decent size with a shower only and nice toiletries. The room had a minibar where the drinks (not wine), chips, and cookies were free the first time. Tea and Coffee making facilities are in the room as well. WiFi is easy to use and not too slow. AC is perfect after the hot days of being a tourist. The only downside to the room was that we could hear the guests either in the room above or below when lying in bed. Unfortunately these guests were loud talkers and awake between midnight to 4 a.m. so it was a little annoying from a sleep perspective. Also, no English channels on the TV ...I know it is Italy but a news channel would have been nice.

Breakfast was plentiful and there is something for everyone (hot foods, continental, cereals, fruit...). The evening drinks on the rooftop are really special with the sunset. Note: Beware of the Seagulls though...they are very opportunistic at both breakfast and with the evening appetizers.

All in all, we loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone planning to visit Rome.
