In my view you could not get better accommodation, location and value in the town. Check in manned 24 hours by friendly staff. The room was excellent and the beakfast was all that was needed. I would not hesitate in staying here again.

I've never stayed at a two-star hotel before, so I was a bit wary, but little choice since it was a last minute thing. Long story short, Albergo Garisenda was nothing short of brilliant. It is right in the heart of central Bologna, all the great restaurants, shops and tourist attractions are very close by. The hotel itself was very clean, the breakfast humble but good, and the receptionists extremely helpful. There is no air-conditioning, just a ceiling fan and a big window, though we were not bothered by that. However, with the window open, there was a lot of noise coming in through the street (to be expected, you don't get a direct view of the two towers without having to compromise on something. The bed was big, but not the most comfortable. Otherwise, it was excellent. Just don't go to Impero Cafe closeby. I was robbed, and the staff were annoyed that I was asking for their help, and did nothing.

This is a small hotel very close to all amenities , it is immaculately clean and the owners are incredibly friendly and helpful , lovely breakfast room with fresh coffees made to order . Very reasonable prices , nice room which was a good size with high ceilings and comfortable bed . No hesitation in recommending

Room Tip: We had room 101 which was large with en suite facilities

Great location close to the two towers, and about five minutes from the main square, Piazza Maggiore and the Neptune fountain on Piazza del Nettuno.

Clean room, comfortable enough, but enthusiastic cat-swingers may feel a little constrained. I had a view into the courtyard which was not particularly picturesque, so if what's outside the window matters, ask for a room with a front view.

The shared bathroom and lavatory was just along the corridor from my room so it was close enough for a quick dash, either with or without pyjamas.

Basic breakfast is included and there is a small bar, which seems to be opened on request so ideal for a nightcap, but there are plenty of cafes and bars close to the hotel for alternatives.

Stayed: November 2016, travelled on business

Albergo Garisenda has rooms with high ceilings, ceiling fans, AC, and comfortable beds. Our room was large and sparkling clean and the cost was a bargain. Wi-Fi is free and always works. A light breakfast is included and the Garisenda's cappuccino should not be missed. Albergo Garisenda is a few steps from the two famous medieval towers, the ancient Santo Stefano church, and the great Basilica of San Petronio. The location is excellent, right in the heart of historic Bologna, near the university (founded in 1066), the wonderful shops, the world famous Bolognese restaurants, and the must-see sights. The fascinating open food market is even closer, along with the food shops/restaurants, including Tamburini and Eataly. The city center is closed to all traffic on weekends, putting the Garisenda at the center of a walker's paradise. We are frequent visitors to Bologna and always feel very comfortable, welcome, and well cared for at the Garisenda. It’s a real gem! If you don't know Bologna, Laura and Maurizio will advise you on the treasures that are only a few steps away.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms are on the inner courtyard. Outer rooms have great views.
