An exceptional Hotel, in a perfect location, there are stunning views of Lake Maggiore.
Great food, incredible ambient in the Hemingway bar, the service was outstanding and we would thoroughly recommend it.

I had the unfortunate experience in staying at this hotel for four days in late September. 2022. We booked at the last minute through Trip advisor. From the beginning of the stay though the end, everything went wrong. We were given a room the size of a master bedroom closet, and told it was the only room available. The hotel management told us they would move us the next day when other rooms became available, and that we would not be charged for the first night's stay. We were moved the next morning to a more spacious room, but without the view of the lake we were promised. I got some insect bites, perhaps bedbugs, from the first room where we slept, and my wife and I contracted a stomach ailment from either the dinner or breakfast, served at the hotel. The hotel Doctor told me that sometimes people who travel get stomach issues and refused to comment on the bug bites. Hotel management did not honor the first night discount. I am still disputing the hotel charges with my credit card company, as the Hotel Management is still refusing to do the right thing. My assessment as a seasoned traveler is that The Grand Hotel Borromees is at best a 1-star Hotel pretending to be a 5-star. Save your money, skin, and stomach. Go down the street to the Regina Palace Hotel. My many prior stays there showed it to be sparkling clean, with great rooms, great food and a most courteous staff.

Booked a week here through Citalia and what a grand hotel it is. The reception staff were so helpful, easy to check in and during our stay, organised taxis and very helpful with recommendations. Just had to walk across the main Stresa road and you were at the lakeside.

Had booked a room with a lake view and what a view it was. The view was spectacular, from seeing the islands and the distant mountains to getting up early for the sunrise and even watching the clouds rolling in as a storm gathered. The room was marvellous, nice big comfortable bed, plenty of storage for our clothing and a lovely double sink bathroom.

We had one issue with our room and maintenance were there straight away to fix it.

My wife used the spectacular indoor pool and spa which were all part of the package though she did indulge with a massage which was extra. The outside pool was large, plenty of seats and was never too busy. The restaurant/bar at the pool side was very welcomed too.

Breakfast. Food was plentiful with a very wide choice of options. I particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon and trout most mornings. Only dissatisfaction was with some of the breakfast staff who seemed not particularly happy to be there and slow to respond to just getting some basic tea and coffee served to the table, good job we weren't after a cappuccino or omelette.. Most of the staff were friendly and attentive so the odd distracted staff were only a minor inconvenience.

All in all a wonderful 5 star hotel. This one really does rate the stars, not within all budgets of course but if you want to spoil yourself after Covid then it was definitely worth it to us.

This is a very special hotel, unlike any other place I have been before.
It is a beautiful historic building in Stresa in front of the Lake with a beautiful view on the Borromean Islands.

Our room was beautifully decorated , with a nice garden view.
It was very clean and spacious with a comfortable bed.
Maybe only the pillows were not very comfortable but it wasn’t a big deal.

The SPA was very nice. With a very enjoyable pool, sauna and Turkish bath it was perfect to relax after a day of sightseeing.

The common areas were very well kept and all the people working in the hotel were super professional and helpful.

We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant and we thought it was pretty good.
The quality of our dishes was excellent, maybe portions were a bit too small and there was not a vegetarian choice from the fixed menu we had chosen for our half board.
Breakfast was also good with great quality products, also here maybe we could have enjoyed more choices of cakes and sweet things.

It was a special weekend and I think this hotel totally deserves the five starts.
Would love to come back again and I think we will soon!

Those who like hotels like Georges V in Paris will feel at home here. The interior architecture reminded me of the Loire castles, Versailles or even Neuschwanstein.
The spa is amazing, I have never seen anything like it anywhere before.
The outdoor pool is very spacious and also very quiet.
But if you want to have an omelette for breakfast, you have to pay separately.
And if you want to order more than two capuccinos, you have to be very insistent, which made me feel embarassed. In a street café you are treated much better.
The breakfast was not an event at all, like in other 5 stars hotels in Spain, Germany or the UAE.
All in all we were satisfied with our stay.
