We stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed both the accommodation and what the area of Stresa offered. We arrived by train and it was only a 10-15 minute walk from the station. The room although on the small size was on the 4th floor and had great views of looking out over part of Lake Maggiore and the surrounding foothills/mountains. Choices of dining out simply floored us by the sheer offerings available. Also shopping in the village of Stresa proved to be a little gold mine with lots on offer, even a street market on the Friday.
A must to do was a ferry ride out to the Borromei Islands, so much to see and well worth the island hopping. Be aware that this area is a favoured route for those in their senior years so if you can see past that, this location is a must do once in your lifetime.

Hotel Primavera is just excellent choise in Stresa. Hotel is well kept and clean with lots of light. Hotel staff is just nice and helpfull willing to tell you about places woth to see. Hotels restaurant Lo Stornello is perhaps one of the best I have ever visited. Variaty of the food was large, wines excellent and you were explaned what the keep inside. Primavera hotel is in the middel of Stresa and everything is in walking distance. Master of the house helps in all the matters that can meet you.

We visited in the low season and were frequently reminded of this during our stay. Reception staff were very disinterested, reception desk was often unattended and we felt our room key was insecure, often finding it still laying on the front counter when returning from outings. The room was fine, spacious and with a balcony. The location was good. The breakfast was the worst we experienced during our month in Italy, no warm food, it took us a while to work out what the dry cold omelette was. Our room phone wasn’t working and the older man at reception was very arrogant and unhelpful. Generally all staff we encountered in reception were only interested in chatting amongst themselves or to locals and we felt like we were an inconvenience.

This 3* hotel is one short block off the waterfront behind the church. It is an easy walk to shopping, restaurants, and boat tours. No parking but they do have options; one option requires you to renew your parking ticket before 8 am by putting a new voucher on your dash. The room was well proportioned and clean. The queen bed was actually two singles held together by a sheet so there was a gap to overcome! Breakfast was standard fare but we couldn't find a toaster. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bells from the nearby church tower add a special touch during the day and are quiet at night.
