This is actually a c. 1900 villino in Stresa which has had a ‘modern’ part added at the front in the 1950s or 1960s to make it into a hotel. Plenty of parking. It is halfway up the hill just over the railway line. You can go to the Hotel Regina on the waterfront and go up the road beside it (Via Duchessa di Genova). It is cheaper than most Stresa hotels, but for a reason. There is no airconditioning so you need to keep windows open at night, and there can be some street noise. The wifi is poor and does not reach the end rooms, so you have to sit in the staircase or breakfast room to use it. Rooms are quite small and old-fashioned. The breakfasts are OK, with good muesli with dried fruit but no fresh fruit, as well as the usual meats, jams and cheeses. It is run in the traditional Italian hotel way. It has a restaurant that we did not try. The Grano Duro restaurant nearby is very good.More
