In a week in Italy, the meat and cheese board was our best antipasti. I had the ravioli, which was very tasty. The family loved the bread.

Porta San Giulio has lots of nice bars, shops and restaurants, but this little one is so charming, romantic and beautiful that we had to go and sit there even not having any desire for any food or drinks. We just took a cappuccino to justify our stay. It is decorated a way that it becomes a little piece of art in itself. Service was very friendly, and the music invited to stay there longer than we intended. So, when I give this place the top rating, be aware of the fact that it is based entirely on the beautiful ambiente and good atmosphere. I suppose that the food is good as well, but I would go and eat here even if the food was just average…

We had planned on eating at a restaurant in the main square, Piazza Mario Monti, but were driven away by a group of drum majorettes playing very loud music over loudspeakers. So we took refuge here instead. Food seemed simple but good, service friendly and efficient and the décor was nicely eccentric. The restaurant occupies a courtyard inside an old town house. Some of the furniture is very odd, including a set of chairs which look like they could have been designed by Rennie Mackintosh. My wife had the buckwheat pasta (as she does not eat wheat) to start, I took the mix of cold meats, then we both followed with seabass (an Italian take on fish and chips). I would be happy to eat here again.
