This museum is purely about the Iceman (Otzi) who was discovered in 1991 astonishingly preserved in a glacier for more than five thousand years before an unusual melt revealed his presence. He is the oldest intact preserved human ever found. It is the ultimate cold case as Otzi was murdered. Not only is the body astonishingly preserved (his organs are still there) but his possessions reveal much about life in the alps in the period. Research on him is ongoing and each discovery begs new questions which are well presented in the exhibits.

Yes, this museum is only about the iceman— but they give you so much context to his life, discovery, & ongoing research that it is totally worth it. Also of interest to anyone interested in forensics. A few fun features for children as well

A tour to this archeological site converted as a museum will definitely gives us idea how the Dolomites formed thousand years ago. Very informative.

Beautifully presented museum focussing on Otzi and his age. I did feel a bit morbid looking at poor Otzi himself, but it was all very well done, and included recent research adjusting the picture.

You would think that building a museum around one frozen man discovered not far away wouldn't work, but it does. The museum and the story of the former local resident is fascinating. And the exhibit is very well done.
