We have stayed in many hotels across the world including many 5 This hotel however was for us the best hotel we have ever stayed in. It is family run and you can tell from the minute you arrive. Highlights include the view from the breakfast terrace, the health and well being facilities and the quite amazing food. Add this to the warmest welcome we have ever received on arrival followed by superb friendly service through out, just perfect. This is a very special hotel and one we will go back to not just once but many times.

At around Easter time for many years we have been enjoying our weekly stays at Meisters Hotel Irma in Merano. Hotel facilities are optimal for families with large rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming in beautiful gardens, located in the cosy town of Merano. The cuisine is outstanding. A lavish buffet breakfast is served on the top floor with a breathtaking view on the mountains. Dinner is a gourmet experience, worth a Michelin star. Rooms and restaurants have recently been repainted and look splendid. Personnel is very friendly and attentive.

The Irma hotel is highly regarded due to it's long standing reputation and lovely decor. The best part in my stay was the warmth and the dedication of the people working in the hotel, especially the very lovely Claudia, overlooking her guests with a great smile and useful suggestions. As written before me the surroundings, the various pools the rooftop breakfast room are gorgeous and the ambience is of luxury and relaxation.
We stayed at the villa amore in the penthouse suite that is way off the main building. It came with a quite expensive price but with maintenance problems that did not suit a luxury room. It was very difficult to open the doors to the terrace, in one of them the brass cover was even broken, the light bulb in the little room was burned and after replacing it the other one burned as well. The outdoors furniture needed attention, and no cushions for the metal chairs. The hotel advertises the suite as suitable for 4 people, but there is a great discrepancy between the huge luxurious master bed room the almost claustrophobic second bedroom, that had the better view. Also the master bedroom comes with a small sized bathroom with shower and toilet, while the entrance to the second room is through a huge bathroom with a very large bathtub but without a shower, making it less functional . The hotel has 4 swimming pools and the guests indulge there, but there was no planned way to hang your swimming suit to dry in both bathrooms. Needless to say that the functionality is not as expected. Very bothersome is that you don't have any kettle or a possibility to prepare a hot drink in the suite that is off the main building. And last but not least, the internet connection in the penthouse suite was vey poor at 1MG at the best so even downloading mails was tedious.
Having said all that, I still think that the hotel is very charming and the people working are of the nicest stuff I had the pleasure to be served by. We had altogether a lovely vacation at this great hotel but I wouldn't recommend staying in the penthouse suite, unless you travel with young children. .

Hotel Irma is a family run establishment, it is located very conveniently a few minutes walk from center of town, The grounds are wonderful and the spa is excellent. Your stay at Irma Hotel it won't be less than truly enjoyable. There is food galore all through the day and a dinner that is a feast to your eyes, enormous salads and antipasti buffet + a 4 course full dinner to follow. I must say that although you will get full up for sure you will not get a gourmet meal for a gourmand here; though somewhat satisfying it is on the commercial side and ready food, not all of it is prepared on premises. Deserts are quite excellent . All in all wife and I will happily go back to Irma Hotel any time.

Room Tip: we were on the 4th Fl, on a corner room with a wrap terrace. Lovely, great views

Meister's Hotel Irma, despite the awkward name, is exquisite. It's beautiful and tasteful with an old world charm, that avoids being stuffy. The food is excellent, interesting and plentiful. And the amenities are almost absurdly splendid: 3 pools, all differently beautiful, including an outdoor saltwater pool with jets (great for kids), an indoor pool in an exquisite room with a huge working (and frequently used) fireplace at one end, and a lovely standard-issue outdoor pool for swimming and sunning oneself to one's content. Oh, there's also a seriously nice spa, as well as several hot tubs. The staff, while small, work their hearts out to please; the breakfast is among the best offerings I've ever seen on a remarkably beautiful rooftop surrounded by picturesque mountains. The only negatives: the overly staged dinner can be somewhat tedious, especially for small children; if you want 5-star service (copious attention, your every whim anticipated), then this hotel isn't for you. Also, the region is bilingual German and Italian without a lot of English. But it's also downright gorgeous -- with amazing hikes and walks and mountains all around you. Don't bother trying to navigate the hotel's baroque website. Just write them, and tell them what you want, and go.
