“Impressive”

Cattedrale di San Pietro Apostolo
Reviewed 18 September 2017

Worth a look even if it's just to go into the crypt, which apart from being an interesting place to visit, it's a calming and very atmospheric area to walk round.

Not an exceptional church, but well worth a visit. The altar was beautiful and the crypt was very interesting. Of note was the Titian on the right of the altar.

We were passing by this great monument for the typical pictures and we realized that there was a mystery ongoing inside the temple. That was a great chance to get in the cathedral and admire the holiness of the place! We were stunned by the atmosphere and the architecture of the place! Definitely not to miss!

Enter the church and in the nave on the far right you will see a group of people. They are looking at Titian's "Annunciation". This is a must see even if you have to pay to light it up (tacky).

Cathedral is a huge building in western part of the center. You will see cupolas from distance and classicist main façade. It looks like a temple and not as an ordinary church. You will recognize a huge interior with vaults inside. This architecture is not very friendly. Lower part with half hidden crypt is more interesting, more human. The best goal of your visit is nice painting in the side chapel on the right. It is Annunciation of Tizian. You can omit less interesting altars and decoration. This renaissance painting is a must.
