This little pub-type restaurant pushed all the buttons for me. My wife and I had just popped in for a quick bite after visiting the Basilica dei Frari across the street (which doesn't open to visitors until 13h00 on Sundays). In a display window were a selection of open-faced sandwiches on whole-wheat bread, and we ordered four half sandwiches, a glass of house wine, and a draft beer. One of the servers then brought the sandwiches to our table, neatly laid out on a slate and cut in two.
My beer was really tasty, the creamed cod sandwich was out of this world, and the other sandwiches were all great. The music playing softly in the background was just right, and at an unobtrusive volume. The whole vibe of the place whispered: "Relax, enjoy, chill out."
We finished with a sweet and some excellent coffees, and paid a bill that was surprisingly modest. The overall experience put me in a good mood for hours.
