My girlfriend and I spent three nights at the Paruta, staying in a Deluxe room.

The room was newly refurbished, still kept in an old fashioned, very Venetian style, with lots of colour and heavy draperies. The bed was marvellous, the bathroom clean and functional. It doesn't seem all Deluxe rooms have balconies, but ours had and we enjoyed it a lot, so we recommend you ask for one.

The room was kept really clean, room service (we asked for ice cubes) was swift and the receptionists were helpful.

Breakfast is served in the grand living room, with wonderful old (original, we assumed) paintings and details. The food was really good, lots of varieties of cheese, ham and other toppings, eggs and cakes. Service impeccable. As the Paruta is clearly in the upper ranges among four star amenities, we would however expected real fruit juices, not from concentrate.

This being our first visit to Venice, and arriving after dark, it was first the next couple of days we fully understood how great the hotel is situated. Very few of the most noteworthy attractions - Piazza San Marco with the Basilica, the Rialto bridge and the Guggenheim are all within approximately 10 minutes of walking distance.

It seems that hotels in Venice are really expensive in general. So is the Paruta; the room we stayed in put as book more than 300 GBP per night - in many other European cities, that would get you a decent room at a five star hotel when outside of the tourist season, like October is in Venice. However, if we come back to Venice, and right now, that seems likely, as it's a wonderful, strange and unique city, we would absolutely consider the Paruta. When everything works a little bit better than expected, the price premium is worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

First, the staff is absolutely wonderful.

this was the last leg of our two week honeymoon, with Rome and Florence as the preceding cities we visited. So it was very disappointing to have such an awful room.
The layout of the room was great. It was 158. Has a sitting room and a neat upstairs roof balcony. However, the carpet on the stairs is stained and worn out, water stains on the bedroom walls, along with the mildew smell, the couch is the sitting room is old, the bars for the pullout jab you when attempt to sit and the 'king' bed is 2 poor quality twin mattresses put together. Our backs are still sore from sleeping on those sagging mattresses. At least put decent bedding in the room!

They don't believe in cleaning the room, only changing out towels and toiletries and spraying an overpowering deodorizer spray. The floor was filthy when we checked in, I don't think it's been mopped in a long time. Ran a damp tissue over the floor and it was black. Gross. Never walked barefoot or in socks, scared of what was on the floor. One of the robes in the room had holes, it is worn out and should have never been left for guests to use.
The breakfast buffet was good, their courtyard is very nice.
Maybe they have nicer rooms and we were just unlucky enough to get a room that hasn't been updated or cleaned in years. But I would never recommend or stay at the hotel again. It was truly awful.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I would stay here again. I booked a standard room and was assigned a room on the first floor(not a canal room).

Hotel is quiet and in a great location! The room was nice but small. The breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had to ask for the front desk to turn on the A/C because the fan in the room was blowing but it did not cool the room.

I would caution others because the shower/tub is sunken in. If you are not able to climb in and out of the tub you may have a problem. The bed also had a crack down the middle. This seems to happen often but if this is something that bothers you, you should know.

We booked at Palazzo Paruta this year following a positive experience 4 year ago. We were not disappointed. The hotel is small and well located in the San Marco area, but in a quiet place within a few minutes walk of the Square. There are several excellent restaurants and good shopping nearby. We especially enjoyed meeting Juliano in the breakfast room once again. He gave us recommendations of places to visit and was as charming as we had remembered. The hotel also suggested a wonderful 3 hour tour of Venice (Venice Deluxe Tour by Antonio Barbini which we are so glad to have experienced. The entire staff was very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend this lovely Venetian hotel.

This hotel was wonderful! We had a gorgeous suite with a small balcony that felt truly Venetian. The decor is stunning and so detailed. The hotel is centrally located. The staff is so incredibly pleasant. Our luggage was lost, and this hotel made us feel at home. Breakfast was fresh and served in a beautiful room. I highly recommend booking a stay here.
