Wife and I stayed at this beautiful hotel for 2 nights in May as part of a belated honeymoon. After a few nights in London and then on to Paris, our time in Venice was the "rest stop" we had hoped for and more. From the time we pulled up in our water taxi to the time we departed, it was nothing short of magical. The large suite (with 2 bathrooms) we had as a complimentary upgrade was exquisite and the staff there was just incredible. Even the new girl that was still "learning the ropes" was first class all the way. If you are going to Venice, I can't think of a better place to stay. The best meal we had in our 2 week trip to Europe was the evening we went to a deli near this Venetian hotel where we bought the finest meats, cheeses, and wines and returned to our hotel where we sat at a table on the patio overlooking the Grand Canal.

I can't say enough about the hotel or the staff. My wife and I had purchased a painting from a street vendor in Paris but had left it in the room at this hotel when we departed for Rome. When we contacted the staff at the Hotel Canal Grande, not only did they locate it but they actually shipped it to us at our home address in the USA. We were at this hotel for 2 nights and by the time we left it felt like we were leaving family. Our next European vacation will involve a much longer stay in Venice and definitely at this hotel. Absolutely FIRST CLASS all the way!

My husband and I stayed in this little boutique hotel (22 rooms only) in May for one night before a cruise and we really wished we could have stayed longer. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and breakfast was a delight. There are only two small tables outside overlooking the canal so it's a question of first come first served! On the other hand, it is extremely comfortable inside where there is air conditioning and more room.

TripAdvisor viewers are not wrong about this hotel, it truly is exceptional. We had a room just around the corner from the main building which gave on to a beautifully quiet and pretty square. Our room number was 406 which does not have a view but is recommended if you are looking for peaceful accommodation. We were pleased we didn't choose a canal view room because when we were in Venice last year we requested just that and, although it was fascinating to watch all the activity on the water, it was very noisy with lots of deliveries by boat in the early hours of the morning. I hasten to add that we were not staying in the Hotel Canal Grande at the time.

What is memorable about this hotel is the quality of every piece of furniture and fittings, not to mention that it is scrupulously clean everywhere. The curtains, for example, are well made and easy to open and close. The beds were comfortable and, best of all, everything worked perfectly. The bathroom was equally impressive with a fantastic shower. In fact, we loved the Hotel Canal Grande and it will definitely be our first choice on a future visit to Venice.

A final word about the personnel. They were all so kind and made us feel at home immediately. Many thanks to all of you.

As you can see from the photo, TripAdvisor was proudly displayed at the Front Desk! This hotel certainly deserves its Travellers' Choice certificate.

Visited Venice for three nights for our wedding anniversary and wished we had stayed longer. The location of the hotel suited us very well; easy to get to from the airport / bus station; pretty setting right on the canal and a great location for discovering Venice. We were so glad we opted to stay outside the central tourist district of San Marco as it encouraged us to explore other delightful parts of the city, although San Marco was very easy to get to by foot or river-bus. All the hotel staff were charming and provided excellent service. We will definitely be returning to the Hotel Canal Grande.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room overlooking the canal on the 2nd floor called the Doge and were delighted with it. Very clean and comfortable with a nice view of life on the canal.

Good points: nice decor, friendly and helpful staff, location on grand canal with breakfast on the balcony, close to the train station (but not too close), breakfast included, free WiFi Internet access, good value for money.
Less than ideal: very firm bed (Italian style), some noise, but otherwise little wrong.
We were in room 401, "Rialto" which is on the ground floor well away from the noise of the canal. It is a big and lovely room, but you do hear the softest noises from above. We had looked at a room on the floor above, and while it was quieter, it was too small, so made do with a little more noise. I'd recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Maximize sleep with an upstairs room at the back

We stayed just for a night as we were flying out of Venice & wanted to be close to the train station. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful. The hotel is right on the Grand Canal and it has a little sitting area with tables right above the Canal. We were upgraded to a room overlooking the Canal which was beautiful, large ( for Italy ), and with the windows closed, quiet.
