We ate here midweek in June whilst staying in Verona. I can honestly say that it was certainly the best meal we had in Verona and in the whole of our Italy trip.
This is a small family run restaurant nicely tucked away in a quiet residential neighbourhood. The restaurant only has about 10 ish tables and you certainly need to book in advance as we went midweek and all the tables were reserved. We were the only visitors there but we were made to feel so welcome and treated like locals!
The food was fantastic. The restaurant clearly sources great ingredients and cook it with love, finesse and a few twists! The family are from Sorrento and you see themes coming through in the dishes.
You won’t find deconstructed food, foams or pipettes of liquid here - there is no need as the quality and taste of the food speaks for itself. It is honest Italian cooking.
The risotto pie and salted cod stuffed ravioli with roe were simply amazing.
The waiter (son) is so knowledgeable about each of the dishes and took time to explain them, both on the menu and from the specials which are brought around. They have a good selection of wines, mainly split local to Verona and from the region around Sorrento and the waiter took time to make suggestions. We bought by the glass so we could try different ones.
We both had 3 courses, plenty of wine, coffee, grappa etc and it came to €90 which we felt was incredibly good value for the meal and setting.
Some reviews have commented on the service being slow which I think are unjustified. The problem is that the western culture is to eat meals too quickly. Here you can sit back, enjoy the surroundings and savour the food and wine and take time to enjoy it.
We will have no hesitation in returning when we are next in Verona.
