This hotel was ideal as a stop on a longer journey. It is a little out of the way, in that it is the farthest point you can reach before crossing the bridge and then heading west out of Taranto. However, it is within easy walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants.
When booking ask for a high floor but not, I'd suggest. the top floor which seem to have dormer windos but maybe I'm wrong, and ask for the corner rooms with a dual aspect view. On a sunny day you have the whole of the inner basin spread out before you with the boats passing out to fish, the naval vessels moored in harbour and a view of the swing bridge. There is a narrow wrap around balcony for those with a head for heights but the railing is a little wobbly.
The room we stayed in was lovely, but strange. It looks like it was once a self contained apartment but now all that is missing is a cooker / microwave. There is tons of storage space and a floor safe you need to request a key for. It has a large sitting dining room and up a very narrow staircase is the mezzanine double bed and bathroom with additional closet space. The glass fronted balcony allows views down to the road below so be modest!
Both rooms have flat screen tv's and the sitting room one has sky but who wants to stay in and watch tv.
Breakfast is not a full American but pastries, fruit, yoghurt, cold meats etc.
Definitely an interesting hotel to stay in and worth a return visit. Reception staff speak good English and are very pleasant.

Room tip: high floor corner rooms with dual aspect views

Hotel quite good. Bad restaurant, orecchiette with tomato sauce (one of the worst ever tasted) and one dry steak selled as a entrecote...ask for a salad and they didn't have it. Better go somewhere else...many places around the hotel where you can eat better and spend less money.

This hotel is quite old. From the 1930, should one believe pictures on the wall here and there. It has been renovated, and appears quite modern.
There are a few peculiarities, however.

The elevator is said to be able to carry 4, but they must be very good friends! The entrance to the elevator is only 55 cm wide, so a wheelchair will most likely not go in!

Some of the rooms are 2-level, with the bed on sort of a loft, where you will also find the bathroom. The stairs up there are quite steep and may not be fitting for elderly.

Internet, from which this is written, works fine at the lower level, but not at the upper. A total of 24 hours seems to be allowed for free. The counter stops, when you sign off!

There is a small kitchen on the lower level with a refrigerator/minibar. and a sink, but nothing else. The fridge is quite noisy!

The view from my room was towards a closed in yard with tall houses all around.

Breakfast is included and contains a variety of breads croissants, cake, cereals and fruit. The juice, however is quite watered down!

Nice hotel, optimally situated near shopping. You can find a parking spot right below your window facing the canal. Very friendly and efficient staff. Now for the negatives...your room is a loft and your bathroom and bed are upstairs. The stairs are more ladder than they are stairs. Bed was very good which is rare in Italy. There weren't too many other guests in the hotel and the breakfast nook was so so. The in hotel restaurant might be worth a try at night but it's more geared to Italian style (sweets and cakes) than international you would find internationally. If only Italian hoteliers would visit the far east more often. When we returned from dinner in the evening it was packed with locals which is always a good sign in Italy of good food. I am Italian and grew up in New York but I can tell you that for Italy this is a good hotel. They always spot themselves a star or two and this hotel is no exception to that rule. For the price and the cleanliness I will probably stay there again. The view of the river from the bed was fantastic but the window at the top of the glass doors leading to the balcony were obscured by many months of dirt. Saving grace...They had Fox News.
Walking distance to the Al Canale restaurant across the canal. Subject for another TripAdvisor but would get Excellent rating with very exceptional food.

Room tip: Canal view.

I was given a first floor room with a view across the harbour. The window was from floor to about 1 metre - great view if you lie on the floor or are under six years old! Other than the view the room was perfectly acceptable. I was travelling by bike and the hotel allowed me to store the bilke securely overnight in their basement.
Breakfast was quite basic and the hotel appeared to be aimed at local business travellers.
