Having spent two weeks in peaceful rural Sicily, our last afternoon in Palermo was a rude awakening. Happily, the Afea Bed & Breakfast saved the day!
Our plan was to check into our hotel, return the rental car, and take a bus to the airport the next morning, avoiding the hassle of morning traffic. It was a good decision. We were welcomed at Afea B&B, even though our check-in was early, just after noon. The rental car return (Avis) was just three blocks away and an easy walk back to Afea. The bus stop was just a block from the B&B, and the bus to the airport was a comfortable ride for just €6 each.
At least for us, Afea was a very non-traditional B&B. Located on the second floor of a commercial building in an attractive section of busy Palermo, Afea was bright, well-appointed, modern (our best wi-fi connection in Sicily), and comfortable. Our hosts were very helpful, providing maps and directions to Mercato Ballaro (within walking distance) and an excellent restaurant nearby, as well as recommendations for our bus ride to the airport the next morning. They even arranged for an early breakfast to accommodate our early departure.
Afea was the perfect choice for our Palermo visit and we highly recommend it.More
