We stayed here for 4 nights 25-29 March We try to use a Mercure wherever possible for city breaks as always in good location and great standard of rooms We took airport shuttle bus to Politeama 6 euro one way or 10 return Buses leave every 1/2 hour and take 40 minutes There are also shared shuttle taxis for 7euros these will save you trying to find your hotel. The bus stops on square outside Polo and the return stop is on the other side outside Prada We then walked down Ruggero Settimo Until we came to Mariano Stabile and turned left the Mercure is down on right hand side Takes about 10 minutes Fast friendly checkin Room had nice comfortable Double bed Opening patio door which was great for fresh air Safe in wardrobe Tv only 2 English news channels but we don't watch tv on holiday The bathroom was lovely Walkin shower unit that we requested good hot water and pressure nice fluffy white towels not the tea towel type you often get in Italy Excellent maid service each day We ate in the hotel's Bistro Restaurant as it was raining It has good menu and wine list Only 1 girl serving but again fast friendly service and excellent food This is where buffet breakfast served again very good everything you need Expresso or Capuccino coffee is ordered from the staff There is a fresh orange juice machine and Canoli to die for There is a Free circular bus shuttle which stops at all the main points ask for map at reception The nearest stop is on Via Cavour Turn left out of hotel down via Carella to end directly opposite is bus stop every 15 minutes The bus starts and finishes at Piazza San Spirito by city walls just change onto next bus but nice area to explore If you turn right out of hotel via Amari and then left via Granatelli Wonderful restaurant Il Mirto e la Rosa next to the Piazzeria on corner Gets busy mostly Italians and great food Set menus from 10 euro-30 euro plus main menu Very good wine list recommend Blues Grillo Palermo is nice but faded grandeur The central train station is served by the free bus so plan a trip out A big thank you to all the staff at the Mercure for making it a great stay

Me, my husband and 7 year old daughter stayed here for 2 nights in April. We had a room on the 2nd floor with two double beds. The room was spacious and very light, clean and modern. It had a TV with some English channels, a safe and a kettle with tea and coffee, but no proper cups, just flimsy plastic cups which are quite unsuitable for hot drinks. The walls of the room are glass which makes it very light, but the sun makes it very hot even when the weather is not especially warm and the air conditioning is not switched on at this time of year. The windows do open but of course this lets in a lot of street noise. We left the windows open in the day and kept the curtains closed to keep the sun out, this kept the room a comfortable temperature. The hotel is near to some nice restaurants and is a 5 minutes walk from the big theatre and shops on the Main Street. Allow half an hour to stroll to the train station. Palermo is a city of great contrasts, grandeur and complete dilapidation virtually side by side. Numerous beautiful churches and unique Arab-Norman architecture. Take the time to wander the side streets and markets. For children there is a nice play park by the harbour and a wide grassy area by the waterfront. We enjoyed our short stay in Palermo (would have liked a bit longer), if we return we would stay at the Mercure again.

Hotel is excellently situated for reaching many popular attractions, and only a short walk from the “terminus” of City Sightseeing Open Top Buses.
Our room was good, beds comfortable, shower excellent, everything clean. No plumbing noises ! We did not need either heating or air con, but it was a great bonus to be able to open two windows for fresh air – often not possible in hotels.
On arrival, we had to ask for the advertised “tea and coffee making facilities”, which were brought promptly – minus coffee or milk !! I think because many people do not use this, the hotel waits to be asked before providing ….
Breakfast fine, typical cold buffet range, plus warm scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage. Useful to have bar and restaurant on site – we ate in on our first evening, and had excellent food and wine, reasonably priced. [However, would highly recommend Trattoria Al Cancelletto, just behind hotel, at 34 Via Ottavia d’Aragona !]
Due to a mess-up by RyanAir, we had made booking directly with hotel via email, and they were very friendly and helpful.
Definitely recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms at back overlook quieter street -- but there were some barking dogs !!

Palermo is a beautiful city.
It’s old, historic and lovely.
Take your time as you stroll around and look at all of the gorgeous architecture....just one structure after the next, all beautiful.
So much to do, so much to see.

Well located-from central station take the 101 or102 bus to Stabile Roma(7stops).Watch out for pickpockets as this is a very busy service at peak times.
The hotel is convenient for all the main tourist sites & public transport links are excellent.
Rooms were large, comfortable & very clean. Breakfast was very good & the staff were polite, friendly & helpful.
A great place to stay!
