An oasis of calm and genuine hospitality in the centre of Palermo's Vucciria district, the B&B is spacious, spotlessly clean, and offers a wonderful breakfast buffet. Fabulous fresh fruit salad, great coffees, fruit smoothies and a gorgeous selection of fresh-baked cakes made daily on the premises. Our room was modern and airy and very comfy, a great place to relax after busy days seeing the sights--and the B&B is perfectly located, an easy walk to all the city's major sights and great food shops. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Street-facing balcony lets you in on all the street 'theatre'. Fun, but be prepared.

This pension is right in the old centre in small dark back street by St Dominico close to restaurants. Stayed in 2 rooms for 1 night. Arrived 10pm and was pleased to be directed to adjacent lively square serving BBQ eats till late all with friendly service. St Dominico square was a rip off with bad service, mega prices and had to ask for change so avoid.
Others have mentioned street noise but I slept like a log although I did close the balcony double glazed doors.
Very clean, having just been refurbed to good standard in rustic style.
Breakfast was a friendly occasion and was a very adequate buffet with home made cakes and pastries, breads, fresh fruit, delicious fresh pressed orange juice and excellent coffee but no cerial, cheese or meats.
Aircon was an extra 5E per night. City sights are just a 10 minute walk and railway station is 15 mins.
Free wi-fi although as often best in reception and nil on top floor. Vito speaks good English and was ever so helpul in arranging for me to visit their sister pension so I could print some documents all free of charge.
Arrival TIP- As with many pensions the owners don’t live in but they do the man reception for much of the day which was handy as we left bags after our 10am checkout so if you are arriving at an odd time ensure you have the mobile number of the owners, which they had emailed to me. Also the taxi dropped us of 200 metres away on the main drag and then we could not find the place as there was no street number or name on the pension but I think that will have been added by now.
Taxi from airport was (50E negotiated at airport) but before 6pm you book at desk for E45.
All in all a very pleasant short stay before departing by train to Taormina via 3 hours in Catania which was an excellent journey.

Room Tip: Higher floor could be a little quieter as there is a loud appliance in reception

The room was spacious, everything clean, staff helpful, breakfast plenty and fresh and location perfect. We loved this place and can only recommend it to others. Just remember to ring ahead if you arrive in the middle of night as receptionist may be sleeping deeply ;-)

PROS - big rooms, comfortable beds, friendly and relaxed staff, excellent breakfast
CONS - Wi-fi didn't work well on third floor, construction works in building next door from 8am til 6/7pm, inner city location - dirty lanes and rotting fish rubbish on market nearby, street noise.

I would say its more like a higher rate hostel. While its certainly a cultural experience to stay just off the Vucciria market, I wouldn't recommend it as a relaxing holiday experience.

Room Tip: lower floors might be cooler.

Dear Mr. Laobhaise,

We are pleased to read the positive aspects of your feedback and we deeply appreciate them, thank you.

About the negative aspects:

We are sorry if WI-Fi worked slow during your stay, but we assure we have already solved that problem and now it works well.

Apologies for the noise of the next door building, but it is unfortunately beyond our control. It is a temporary problem which is going to terminate soon.

Vucciria has a traditional lively atmosphere on Saturday night, some people like it although it may cause some noise.

About the rubbish of the fish shop, it is absolutely out of the sight and of the smell from the balconies of our B&B, we are not exactly sure if it can be considered a negative point…

Thank you for your feedback.

Very good value for the money ! Right in the centre, therefore street noise from local bars and cafes, need to close shutters. Very clean, building redone in old style, lighting could be improved in the corridors. Shower is a bit mini in size, plenty hot water. Breakfast on the ground level, very adequate buffet with home made pastries, breads and croissants, freshly pressed orange juice, lots of fresh fruit but no cornflakes, cheese or other. Order coffee the way you like.
Small family restaurant TOTO in the alley one minute away, excellent fish.
