This is a very modern Hotel in an old Town, Taormina is great but five minutes away you have, "nothing" but unkept buildings and what looks like poverty. We had rain as well. The restaurants in the Town are very good. Our room/suite had a small pool, but was in a poor position as after 12 we had no sun and had to go to the main pool area. But we would return as overall it was a good time.

We have just returned from a week at the Metropole which we thoroughly enjoyed. The position is perfect and although access by car is certainly tricky ( a satnav helps a lot) the hotel have their own car park (20 Euros per night) in the via Roma below. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast buffet on the terrace overlooking the sea was a magical experience.
That said we had been upgraded to a suite on the top floor which was very quiet and I can imagine that one of the comfort rooms lower down and giving on to the main Corso could have been quite noisy as there are people strolling around until the early hours and the jazz music coming from the foyer bar may not be to everyone's taste (we liked it as it happens and there were some excellent bands playing during our stay).
Our only quibble was the restaurant where we ate on our first evening as we had arrived quite late and didn't feel like foraging. The service was rather slow and the food was overpriced and a bit pretentious. There are any number of wonderful tratorrie in Taormina where you can eat far better and less expensively. But overall a very smart, funky boutique-type hotel in a great position

Room Tip: ask for something on the second or third floor; if you can afford it go for a suite as the standard...

We've just spent a week at this hotel. It's perfectly located right in the centre of Taormina giving great access to all of the restaurants & bars.
That said having drinks in the hotel bar has one of the best views of the bay. It's a great way to start the evening.
We found the staff a little aloof. I don't say this lightly, but being well travelled and having stayed in many hotels we just thought they were not overly friendly but this could be deliberate.
Every night the hotel has a jazz band in the lobby. Our room was right over the lobby, and as jazz is my least favourite music genre I was not appreciative of listening to this every night until well after midnight. We knew the hotel was full so moving wasn't an option.
We had a great week and I would go back ONLY if I had a room as far away from the lobby as possible.

Arrival at the Hotel went smoothly with our room (22) waiting for us. On entering the room we found it bright, clean and contemporary. As we unpacked we realised that there was very limited (and I mean LIMITED) storage space and no drawers in which to put clothes. We asked for some drawers but apparently there aren't any, so we asked for a different room and the Hotel Staff offered us an upgrade at a discounted price, which we accepted( Room 20) with a Seaview. Upgrading is a MUST. Some of the rooms are tiny, so pay attention when you book. Every area of the Hotel has stunning views along the coast and out to sea. Sunbeds are limited, so get up early to book your spot in the sun. Poolside area is quiet and relaxing. Infinity pool is small but lovely. Staff are polite, efficient and helpful. Good breakfast and although we didn't eat there in the evenings the menu looked fantastic. Drinks and food are expensive. The biggest disappointment for us was that EVERY NIGHT was a Jazz evening, ( from 9.00pm till 12.30am) ok if you like jazz, but painful if you don't. Trouble was, there was no escape anywhere in the Hotel from the deafening noise. There appeared to be an emphasis on style and design rather than on guest comfort and functionality.

This is one beautiful place! The location is absolutely perfect with great views from the room, while the hotel entrance is right on the main street. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous from the reception down to the rooms. The personnel is absolute top. The breakfast quality is amazing as well and the breakfast view is nothing less than spectacular. In the evening they have superb live jazz music and they serve great cocktails. We were even upgraded to a suite which was awesome. Honestly, I can hardly wait to be back !

Room Tip: I'd say seaview it's a must !
