Had to send back food, not edible. Too expensive for bad food . The food was less than mediocre for a high price. Would never return.

We ate here the last night of our stay in Firenze. I am gluten free and they made me a special meal. Red snapper cooked with potatoes, tomatoes and olives. Plus, the waiter suggesting that I drizzle the fish with olive oil? Oh my! How delightful was that! It's a bit obscure - out in a neighborhood but I suggest that you find it - truly a wonderful fish restaurant!

We stayed just out of the tourist district close to Campo di Matre station and found this restaurant by chance during our frequent walks around the area. Florence is not a big city and the taxi and bus transport is good so all places are easy to get to. The restaurant has an exceptional reputation for great fish, they say unreservedly the best fish restaurant in the city and I'd agree. From the moment you enter the premises you feel like you are in a special place with beautifully appointed furnishings and tables. The venue is exceptionally clean and classy and the service was perfect with great waiters who have an intimate knowledge of the foods and wine on offer. There is no language barrier, English is spoken by all staff with that beautiful mix of Italian so you feel and know you are in the middle of this wonderful city, "Firenze". Every portion of the meal was bordering on perfection from the breads to the gratis aperitif to the main course. The menu is heavily seafood, that's their specialty and they do it magnificently. So now the best part, the price. With all this you might expect to pay handsomely but not in reality. I thought the cost was more than reasonable for the type of restaurant and I'd go there again without hesitation. It was the benchmark restaurant on our trip to Firenze. And you are given a complimentary glass of their own Prosecco on arrival just to get the mood going.

We found ourselves in the 'Philosophers District' of Firenze visiting a relative who referred us to this Restaurant Portofino which was very good.

Off the Beaten Tourist Track of Central Firenze but well worth the Short Walk.

The Atmosphäre and Service is Five Stars, the Mixed Seafood entre sublime and the Bass Fish cooked Whole in a Thick Crust of Salt crystals and egg Whites was fabulous. We let the waiter recommend a Glass of local white wine which was superb.

Given your most likely to be travelling it will be a Real treat and Resonanable value (70-80 euros Head three courses) to eat at the mostly florentine locals only restaurant .....a meal you will not forget....Michelin Star Territory.
