This is perhaps one of the most famous sculptures in history and seeing it in person is unbelievable. No photo or even virtual reality can capture the "charisma" and impact emanating from this work.

Everybody knows who Michaell Angelo is but seeing the original David is an experience. One monolith sculpted like that would be just incredible in our time with modern tools, just imagine 500 years ago with the tools available at the time. I have seen it before but looking my kid's expression when they saw it and understanding how it was sculpted was awesome. There are some other things to see but the David is the gem.

First, we used the Florence card and went early. We bypassed the line and spent time with David with very few other people. As time went by, the crowd increased. David is the main attraction as well it should be. Amazing! Take the time to explore other areas of the Accademia. Other galleries have world class works of art worth the time to digress and explore beyond David. Take your camera.

A visit to see Michelangelo's David should be on top of everyone's bucket list...nothing gives it justice as seeing it in person. David was beyond all my expectations!!!
